Default Gallardo Air Condition Advise!

Hi guys,

I would like to get your opinion on the reply I got directly from Lamborghini.
Since I leave my Gallardo04 in the garage for around 3-4 weeks during my business travels, my aircondition stops to work everytime I am restarting the car after this period.

The techguys from Lamborghini now tell me that everytime I get the car out of the garage again, I have to drive it on 3.500-4000 RPMs for 1 hour to get the aircondition restarted again!?! They claim its normal!

Please let me know what you think about this.

all the best,
Chris

This sounds very strange since it's for sure an Audi A/C, I never heard that in an Audi you have to do such nonsense...

Hi Chris:

I just returned from a drive in my Gallardo04 and I am having the same A/C problem you mentioned. I agree with Raymond that Lamborghini's advice sounds strange but did you try it or have you determined that there is a different problem with the system?

Thanks, Stan

Chris:

I tried running my car the way the Lamborghini tech suggested to you and it worked for me. After about 1/2 hour very cold air started to come from the vents. This is the first time in three years I've had an A/C problem so I am not sure how long it will last - hopefully through the summer.

Thanks for the information, Stan

Default Same in Mercedes

I've had several late model Mercedes, and it works the same way in their cars. Its very strange, but true. According to MB, the A/C computer does this to protect the compressor from being damaged (since it hasn't been used for so long). I found that the longer it wasn't used, the longer it took to turn back on.

HOPE THIS HELPS...

Audis are pretty unreliable. It's a pity they're using their materials on Lamborghinis. But, I guess it's still better than Ford. They used Mondeo plastics on the Vanquish models.

So, after a long winter storage, you have to run the car @ 3500 -4000 rpm to re-set the A/C ?? Did they say to do this procedure with the A/C switched on or in the off position, while at these rpms ?

TIA

On the MB I would leave it on, and the compressor would eventually turn on and start working. Sometimes it took 5 mins (after a short trip) and sometimes it took 30 mins (if the car sat for over 1 week). Good luck...
