Default Correct use of manual gearbox

I have 6 speed Gallardo 2004. After 8700 km the original clutch was gone. After changing it I had a talk with my friend, who is a mechanician. He said that the way I change gears is not right. That I have to step on accelerator only when the clutch pedal is fully released. And that I have to step on accelerator slightly, when I start from the first gear. Now I step on accelerator, when I release the clutch pedal to the point when I feel yhe clutch begins to work, not after I fully release the clutch pedal. He said that such action will kill the new clutch fast. What do you think - is he right? And another question. Can I consider, that I do everything right if after the driving, there is no clutch smell from the car, and consider, that I do something wrong, if there is a sclutch smell after the driving?

Thanks

It just amazes me to see how so many people burn through Gallardo clutches both manual and e-gear so quickly. If you are new to using a manual clutch before you wast several thousand dollars, get a few driving lessons from somebody to teach you how to use a clutch properly. There is no reason what so ever to have a clutch go in a Gallardo in less than 20,000+ miles if used properly. I expect to get 30,000 at least out of my e-gear as have some people already.

I'm sure you are right....but I have driven stick since I learned to drive, and a Lambo dealer told me this "dual stage" clutch was impossible to shift, even for experiened drivers. It was totally different that what I was used to, they told me I'd go through a clutch in 5k miles. At the time I did think twice about it - and ended up with an egear for different reasons - but I'm pretty sure they just wanted to sell the $10k option more than any real clutch issues. But I'm a cynic.

Lamborghini is not my first car with manual gearbox. When I was poor , I was driving BMW 523 with manual gearbox. And I had no problem at all! But 170 h. p. vs 500 h. p. - it makes difference! I agree with my friend, that to step on accelerator before taking leg out of clutch pedal may be not good for the clutch! But that is a sport car after all! And if I wait until the clutch pedal is fully released to accelerate, I will not get the best acceleration possible! May be it is acceptable to push accelerator slightly before full releasing of clutch pedal in order not to loose the rotation of engine?
