Default Cargraphic Carbon airbox for Gallardo

Anyone have any experience with the Cargraphic carbon fiber airbox? Has anyone realized performance gains or proven dyno increases with this product? It's about 6k and seems overpriced for the performance gain. Still, I like the way it looks and want to let the engine produce as much power as it can by letting it breathe easier. Already have Burtoni exhaust, now looking for airbox mods that will help. Anyone have advice/experience with this? Thanks in advance!

I wonder how hard it would be to make one yourself?? I have seen what people of average mechanical/design ability can do and I am impressed!! The hardest part would be making the mold which could be done out of wood (lay the C/F over it and let dry), foam (would need a hot knive to carve), or metal/plastic (lay C/F over OEM piece). C/F as we car guys know it is really only a composite "fabric" stiffened with cured resins.

I wonder.................

Yes, but there's no point in doing so without an increase in airflow and resultant power...I'm sure Lamborghini's current system is pretty solid, so any further mods would have to be a big improvement in airflow to notice a difference. I wouldn't risk mucking about back there only to make an airbox that performs less than stock! Carbon fiber is also not easy to mold and form without special tools and a good autoclave. That's why it costs so much.

Anyway, I'm wondering if some of these airbox power claim increases are just false advertising. So far no one has modified their Gallardo airbox?

I did put in the BMC air filters just to reduce any restrictions caused by paper filters, but this doesn't cause any noticable effect.

Thanks for that info, that's actually the same one that cargraphic resells (at more than $2000 more than you can get it from gruppem-usa.)

GruppeM USA price: $3795 (http://www.gruppemusa.com/catalog/intake/lamborghini/)

Cargraphic Price: $5800 - $6000 (depending on who you talk too at the U.S. importer, Road Sport Supply).

These prices are for the exact same item. Glad I didn't buy from cargraphic or their U.S. importer. What a friggin' racket.

It may just be me looking in form the outside ( I don't have my Gallardo yet...small issue of $$$) but it seems to me that many vendors feel owners of exotics are walking cash dispensors!!! What a ripoff!!

Those look nice, but are purely aesthetic, no?
