Default For all you DIY oil changers out there - Gallardo

For you guys that change your own oil:

The filter housing is "buried" in the small space on top of your engine.
In order to remove the filter housing (which is re-used) to remove
the filter element, you need to either:
1. Buy a factory filter "cap" wrench.......approx. $120.00....in order to
get into this area without having to disassemble your air intakes

or

2. Buy one of these custom aluminum filter wrenches from me.......$39.00.
You can get your hand and the wrench in there, & loosen and
tighten the housing without any disassembly. It works great!
I've changed the oil on my Gallardo and this tool is definitely
a time saver.

The only other item you need is a #50 "star" (torx) wrench on a socket fitting
for the oil tank and oil pan bolts.

One more thing, when removing the filter element from the housing, turn
it 1/4" turn clockwise, and it will come out. I found this out the hard way.
There are two clips that hold the filter element in the housing. Don't "pry"
the element out of the housing or you'll break the clips!

If any interest, please e-mail me at:

AZFerrari@aol.com

Thanks,
Jeff

Just a thought; you might make your 'tool' even more user friendly, by drilling a small hole in the handle to attach a wrist lanyard.
(It would be less likely to accidently drop it down that "mine shaft").

your product might be harder to use because you are using your hand to rotate the wrench. the factory wrench can be used to connect to longer tools for better reach. you get what you pay for. AZFerrari's tool might work better on ferraris after removing the motor.

There was no mention of a ferrari or engine removal.

Wow, such harsh words! Hey, the wrench works! Plenty of leverage, and there is no "mine shaft" for the wrench to fall into that it cannot be retrieved.
Go ahead and pay the $120 for the factory wrench, or have the dealership change your oil for $250! Hey, you get what you pay for! ($100/hr for an easy job) When you do it yourself, you KNOW it was done right!

i was being sarcastic. forgive me if i was not being clear on such sarcasm. Besides, shouldn't this post be somewhere in 'classified' since its a business....not a tech post...
