Several ?'s:
1) brakes continue to squeal even after being driven several days in a row for several hundred miles?? 2) engine doesn't want to run under load when first started?? 3) engine has sucking noise when u blip the gas at an idle. causes hesitatation which effects ability to downshift (6 speed). |

brakes will squeal especially if you do not use them with vigor - the pads are near race quality and so are very hard and tend to squeal under light loads. Try EBC Reds for a bit quieter and good pad for the street and light track.
Engine problems I do not know, other than the sucking noise - engines use air and the air intakes are right on the tops of the quarter panels and very audible esp with windows down. |

I have an 04 G and I have a simular noise on the drivers side of the engine but it sounds more like air escaping or sucking. The car runs fine except it hesitates, and makes a sucking sound when shifting from 2nd to 3rd in automatic mode. It doesn't do it all the time either. I'm old school so I too first thought it was a vacuum issue. Does anyone know of any known vacuum issuse and where I should check?

I had this on my G - there's a t-piece off the drivers side (left side) manifold vacuum line which broke off - the t goes into the vacuum storage canister for the brakes (which were rubbish until I found this out).
take the left side engine cover off, then follow the manifold feed pipe down until you find the T- you'll be able to feel if its broken or not, but there's minimal room to see it. I had to take out the pollution canister to fix it, and it's a cursed metric tee so it was tough to get hold of one - I ended up with a straight-through irrigation fitting for a week which worked fine (just no emergency vaccum storage). There's a whole load of vacuum pipes on the left side, so you may just want to take the cover off and follow them around to make sure nothing's dropped off. PM me if you need more info. |
