Hello again.. Somebody know what kind of manufacturer the gearbox of the urraco is? Is the internals ZF or something? Is it all lamborghini special?

Best regards

Daniel

Smile gearbox

The urraco gearbox was built in house by lamborghini themselves. By 1975 they had been making their own gearboxes in house with their own tooling for almost a decade.

The car does share quite a number of componets with the Fiat 130 coupe and the uber rocket at the time the BMW 2002.

I have heard that the gearbox contains a number of "Porsche type" features but I do not think any of the componets are interchangeable.

MBax.

Just stepped out of the Urraco after a 20mile trip home from work - leaves a smile on my face everytime.

Default Dif.

Sorry 4 delay in responding - I have been able to find very little info on the dif. other than:-

position:- rear
type:- crownwheel & pinion
ratio:- 1:4.025 (16/68) 1:4.00 (17/68)

And I can't pretend that I know what any of the above means including the 2 ratio rates and what the bracketed info means.

I also own a BMW 2002 and the dif on this is 1:3.91 as best I can tell.
BTW the other parts bin car for the Urraco was the fiat 130 SALOON not coupe as I posted earlier - I have no idea what the dif on this car is/was but I think they will be harder to find than the Urraco's and again I suspect not the part you are looking for.

Ive been through all my lambo literature and the above appears in the Marchet book & the handboook but there is very little referance in any other that I can find.

My guess is that they were in house items but marque experts (gary b (usa)or colin c (uk)) would should tell you otherwise.

I think eurospares in the uk might have something as they were breaking a jalpa last time i was there (not the fully correct item but should fit) or send the bits to a diff specialist and he will tell you what is needed to rebuild.

Good luck - my rear suspension rebuild kept me off the road for 3 months - its the only drawback from running these every day - silly little jobs that take a couple of days for any other car can run into months of off road time and weeks of research.

I know what you mean about the older cars being off the road for long periods of time waiting for parts!

Here is my example. I sent my emergency brake cable down to Bill at GT Car Parts back in February to have him rebuild it. Here we are almost mid-June and I still don't have it back. I finally gave up and called Terry at Ultimate Motors and had him order the over-priced ($260.00) OEM cable from Lamborghini.

While I wait for that cable to get here from Italy, I decided to pull my front shocks off and send them down to Ground Control to have new KONI inserts put in. I figured since the car was up on the lift waiting for the cable, I might as well do the fronts shocks/springs while it was off the road.

Ahhhh.... the wonders of owning the older Lambo's....

Daniel,

I do not know the Uracco gearbox, but the Jalpa gearbox may be the same. My own Jalpa had a Lamborghini-made transmission, based on porsche syncromesh system. If You do a rebuild, You may show the worn parts to a porsche expert, and he can tell You if they are interchangeable.
Later Jalpas used Borg-Warner Sycromesh, and I think the internals were made by ZF. On many gearbox rebuilds, You will need only bearings, syncromesh parts and sealings.

The Jalpa-Gearbox as well as the Urraco P300 gearbox are different from the one used in the P250.

So a jalpa gearbox would not fit my P250?

When I arrive to buy the P250 I found, I might sell the gearbox since the engine of that car is broken and incomplete. I would then install the entire P300 stuff on that P250 and sell everything which is P250 specific.

Then also a www. urraco. ch Homepage will be created, so stay tuned...
