Is it the tachometer or the signal to the tachometer?

I had both my speedometer and tachometer renovated at Palo Alto Speedometer, CA (Palo Alto Speedometer: Repair, Restoration, and Sales of Automobile Gauges). They did a good job, but were a little pricy at $500 for both and could not supply calibration data.

ok thanks, It's the tachometer. I have a good signal, I hook up a old Fiat tackometer and it work fine.
