Default Restoration of Gumball Jalpa

So it has been a long time coming. It is finally time to repaint and restore the jalpa. I am going to try and post as many photos as possible and also see if I can solve some issues in the process. During the disassembly I have discovered that I really like the way the Jalpa looks without the rear bumper. It kind of has that Diablo SVR look to it.

I will try to make notes on the photos that describes the tools needed and the general process. If there is anything that is unclear please let me know. I have also bought a blasting cabinet to help out in stripping smaller pieces. So enjoy the process I hope it doesn't take forever.

The side marker lights are removed through the trunk. Each marker light has 2 - 8mm bolts. The taillights each have 4 - 8mm nuts.

Here are a couple of the small blasted parts. After blasting they were given two coats of Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator.

I think it is going to be bigger than expected. But what is life without a little adventure. The bolts that are rusty are being replace. That one had paint on it so I just blasted the paint off. Anything is better than the flames.

I am going to go with the same Yellow as Roys GTR. The original color was yellow. I love the metallic yellow but it may seem out of place.

Cool thread.

You know I liked your flames, but I can see how it would get old for you. I will be watching this thread with great interest. Good luck and have fun.

I thought about removing my rear bumper, it looks pretty cool from the picture. You could always make a small bumper like a Silhouette has & put in it's place. Any chance for some side angle views without the bumper?

Looks very interesting without the bumper. Post a profile shot without the bumper, I am curious to see how it affects the look overall.
