Replacing targa top interior cloth upholstery for Jalpa
Has any one with a Jalpa ever replaced the interior cloth upholstery on their targa roof. In the photo attached the yellow dots represents screws that hold a template that the cloth was adhered to. The problem is once the screws are removed there are 2 u shaped black iron strips ( depicted in yellow bars) that hold both of the ends of the template in place. Does anyone have any suggestions on hoe to remove these strips. As usual thanks.

There are 2 screws between the bar and the weather stripping. Take those out and then it just slides out.

My suggestion is go with leather.
That is what I did. I also recovered my seat backs with leather so there is no plastic cheap look. here are a few pics. David

Raymond,
The previous owner probably covered the seat backs or maybe it was special order from the factory. Every original leather Jalpa I have seen has plastic seat backs that are texured to look and "feel" like leather. David

Mine are leather too??? Are you talking about Vinyl or hard plastic?

Dave,
I am talking about the hard plastic back side of the seats. both 191 and 411 had hard plastic backs with no leather on them.... they both had original leather with no changes. maybe it was an option for leather backs or a dealer option? Not sure David

David you are correct my jalpa has a hard plastic backing that matches the seat leather.
