Default New Custom Exhaust

I recently made my own exhaust that is modeled after the Stebro system with 3" tubing. With the twin turbos the exhaust was made were they combine into one. So I had to use my imagination. It cost about $120 and took a couple hours to weld together. It sounds pretty good. I will post pictures of it on the car soon. Previously, it was just straight off the turbos so it was pretty loud. The good thing is that I welded a flange so that when at the track I can switch back to the straight pipe.

I was considering doing something similar with Burns Stainless race mufflers and my gallardo, still kicking it around.

Here is the update. The new exhaust sounds great. The rebuilt starter works like a charm and the new struts are great.

So Sunday I took the jalpa to a family party. The car was running great but half way through the trip, black smoke started coming out of the engine bonnet. I down shifted and went to turn off and lost all power. I thought there was a fire for sure but I delayed pulling the fire system. When I opened the bonnet there was just a lot of smoke. I opened the front bonnet and the negative cable was completely melted off?!?! So I knew there had to be a short.

When I got the car back home (will not mention the method used to tow it). Once on the lift I realized the problem. When I reinstalled the starter I did not wire tie the cable from the alternator to the starter. The cable was against the exhaust and melted and welded itself to the header!??! So once the cable went to ground it melted the battery clamp.

It was my own fault for not getting things tied up. I ordered a bunch of heat sleeve to wrap all wires and hoses to avoid this in the future.

The good news is that the exhaust sounds great. Will keep you posted with the outcome
