I had my very custom exhaust system coated by Jet-Hot and it holds up well, but since various coatings weigh the main three benefits (lower radiated heat, looks good and rust protection) differently, you should first clarify why you want to do it.
If the main goal is heat reduction, then Swain Technologies’ coating both inside and outside would be the best (and most expensive). If heat reduction is not the main goal, then use Jet-Hot (or others such as High Performance Coatings) still both inside and outside. I am a strong proponent for having inside coating done, since this lowers the temperature (and therefore its gradient) of the pipe material, which again results in less bending and thermal stress on the exhaust system.
If you have headers heat wrapped with aluminum, then don’t let the coaters persuade you to take it off to coat the pipes underneath. No matter what they say, the wrapping is still gives much better thermal protection than coating, but Jet-Hot can coat the outside of the wrapping and the inside of the pipes (which I could not persuade Swain to do).
Even the catalytic converters (if you have them) can be coated (on the outside only), but for that you will likely need their high temperature version.
Then there is the choice of colors, if not using Swain. I thought silver would be a little too visible for the cat-back component and therefore those black to contrast the chromed tips.
The coaters clean the pipes by blasting them with ~1/16” marble balls and there are often some left in various crevices. Although they can only do very minor damage on the converters (much more serious with turbos), it is still a good idea to chase as many out as possible before the installation.
