Default Jalpa rear brake calipers

anybody know the part number or donor car source for the rear brake calipers on the jalpa. we tried bmw 2002 and 635 with no luck. they look like volvo units? we would rather get a new pair than rebuild these.

thanks.

There is a 88 silver with Bravos on this site. He has some kind of Porsche calipers on it. They wouldn't be identical, but worked out ok.

thanks, we are aware of that, but with the jalpas that are still on the road, i thought someone would know where the calipers came from. we cannot find rebuild kits or replacement calipers anywhere. i am not sure whom Joe ( new owner of my euro jalpa) has called, other than he says he cant find any rebuild kits or part numbers.

Has he called the factory or any dealers. I bought rebuild kits from a dealer in NYC. they were "cheap" at $50 per kit. this was a few years ago, but the callipers are a pretty standard item. Also have him check Raymond's site for a crossover match.

Default Jalpa replacement caliper

I was looking on the Race Parts - Auto Parts - Car Parts - The Internet Racepages - RacePages.Com sight today who sell the ATE brake calipers same make as the Jalpa, and I believe the caliper your are after is off a 1982-1984 BMW 733i front caliper, Part number W0133-1599570. The image shown looks the same and has the same fittings (brake pads, pins and spring loading part) Have a look and see what you think, this site is advertising them at $259 each new, the image implies it comes with the brake pads but check for your self.

Not Correct, on the 733i Tried that one. My research has led me to an ATE Caliper that came on the orginial Volvo 240's. Ussually these cars came with Girling calipers but some had ATE 4 piston calipers. None of the Volvo sites list the calipers or kits for them though they do acknowledge that they exist.

Joe

update:

Joe determined that the Jalpa rear calipers are the same as used by Ferrari on the 288 GTO, the 365 2+2, 365 BB, Daytona, you get the idea. basically its a V12 Ferrari caliper, that the number has been "locked" by the brake manufacturer.

research any of the above donor cars, and you can find calipers, rebuild kits, and pads.

now everybody knows, as opposed to a select few sitting on the part numbers, and not sharing them.

i will get the part numbers later and post them...

glad to help, and i dont even have my Jalpa anymore.
