Default Jalpa Proper coolant Temperature?

Driving around today in 90 degree heat here in Maui and in bumper to bumper traffic my car is running about 95 degrees C...(redline is 120 degrees C)...is that where it should be?
Nothing seems to happen when I push the Aux fan switch on the dash....no lights come on in the light cluster, but I think both fans are running. Maybe one of the previous owners hard wired it on all the time. Any thoughts on that?
Also I had my A/C rcharged today with R-12. Blows cold for now...hopefully no leaks will show up. cost me $194 bucks for the recharge.

95 degrees C is OK, since this is measured at the engine, normally the radiator fans switch on at that temperature. If they don't the car would overheat, depending on how the car is wired the temp switch works on both fans (like mine did).
You can check the aux fan switch by turning ignition key to position one, now you should be able to hear them, the switch in my car worked also on both fans.
I suppose the aux fan switch was to bridge a broken temp switch.

BTW: tunring on the ac causes also the fans to operate, this caused many times a burnt fuse on my car although I put a 30 Amp fuse in the fuse box.
Therefore I suggested lambosavy to switch the fans when he had the radiator out anyway.

There is a light on the panel that shows if the aux. fan is running. If yours is not working at all, it probably is a relay located up front.

Thanks Joey, I'll check it out. Yeah, there should be at least a light.

My car has a fan light that comes on when I turn the aux. fan on. It does not come on when the other fan only comes on. Look in the owners manual, it shows the location of the aux. fan light. I didn't know I had one until I read that thing. Mine didn't work either, thanks to Raymond telling me to check the relays, that is what it was. A simple Napa part. The relays are by your fuses, the little black plug in boxes.

This picture was posted by Jalpa_Aus some days ago in another thread, all relays are from bosch.

From the original diagram The emergency flasher unit in number 1. From my basic understading of the relays there are two types of relays used(Excluding the flasher unit) The first type is the one mentioned in the previous post as having the 2 87 spades relay. This type of relay makes a connection from spade 30 through to both the 87 spades when the coil is energised ie when you have 12v across spades 85 & 86 (You should hear the relay click when you do this) If you have 12V on the 30 spade you should now have 12V on the two 87 spades(commonly called make contact relay usually has 12v30A on it somewhere). This is the most common one on the jalpa and you should have this type for relays 2,4,5,6,7 and 8 from the diagram I have attached.
The second type of relay is the one with the 87a and the 87 spades on it. This type of relay MOVES the connection from 87a spade to 87 spade so if you have 12V on spade 30 then you will have 12V on spade 87a when the coil is not energised (no voltage across 85 & 86). When the coil is energised (12V across 85& 86) then the 12V coming in on spade 30 will be removed from spade 87a and moved to spade 87 (commonly called make /break contact relay usually has 12v 20/30A on it somewhere). This type of relay is used for the headlight motors & the low beams from the diagram I attached it is relay number 3. There is a second of this type of relay but it is NOT mounted on this panel. It is used for the flashing the front fog lights( I think) hope this helps.

Emery, I don't remember, but I would guess it was #5 first, then 6, then 2. It will only take a few seconds. They are the same. I pulled one out and tried it in a couple of spots, and by the process of elimination I found the bad one. Not to techincal, but it worked!
