Default Jalpa oil return tube

I was able to under my car the other day and isolated a small oil leal to one of the oil return tubes. I is accessable with the engine still in the car. I was thinking of cutting the tube out (with magnets attached to prevent metal shavings from dropping into the oil pan) and replacing it with an adjustable tube. I saw them used on a Jalpa on Raymonds site and they seemed to work well. Any concerns, tips, advice from the community would be appreciated before I attempt this project.

Thanks again.

Frank

Sure it is possible. The tubes are very thin. I was going to cut mine out as well but because they were so thin I just pulled them out bending them in the middle. I ordered the tubes for JC Whitney. They are really cheap. They are the same as the ones for VW bug. The ones in the back are easy to get to but the ones closest to the passenger compartment are a little tougher. Please let me know if you need the part #s.

Thanks David......are the tubes threaded that are in the car now? Do they unscrew or do you just pry them out?

They are not threaded it looks like they are but they are not. I just squeezed mine in the middle with vise grips to flatten the tube and then just pulled them out. It is pretty easy once you get the first one out.

I bought mine from CB Performance:

Still haven't installed mine. I'm waiting until the fall when I pull the engine to replace the exhaust headers. Then I'll replace these along with other gaskets and stuff.
