Jalpa Foglight Fix
.
I noticed that there has been much discussion on the front spoiler lamps. .Hopefully this post will be of some help.
The spoiler mounted lamps can be converted into functioning like traditional fog lamps (as opposed to functioning as high beams or parking lights) by rewiring the hot-wire directly at the fog lamp switch.
More specifically, power to the Front Fog Lamp Switch comes from the Main Beams Switch (i.e. there is a small jumper wire between the two). Switching on the main beams initially cuts power to the Fog Lamp Switch via this jumper wire. This is the reason that the fog lamps will not turn on when the Main Beams Switch is initially engaged (i.e. power routed through the fog lamp switch is what allows the fog lamp relay to energize and consequently turn on the lights).
By removing the jumper between the two switches and rewiring a new hot (+) lead into the fog switch, one can get the fog lamps to operate whenever the fog lamp switch is engaged.
It's a very quick and simple solution. .The most difficult part is getting to the hidden, inner bolt which secures the far-right Switch IP Cluster. .If I remember correctly, the only way to get at the bolt is by loosening the 4 bolts that secure the center Speedometer IP Cluster. .Once the 4-bolts are loosened there should be enough play (without removing the speedometer cable) to gain access to left bolt that secures the Switch IP Cluster.
Good Hunting!
