Default Jalpa Exhaust Mod

What do you think of just removing the cats and replacing them with a straight pipe? Probably sound pretty good. I like em loud! Looks like if you can find the same type flange for both ends of the straight pipe you wouldn't do any damage to the original exhaust, and the cats can be replaced when ever you want. What do you think?

Why not take a Stebro SS exhaust, would also bring some additional HP.
If you have no concerns about the emission test go for it.

Just taking the cats out I wouldnt do, might result in a worse throttle response because the backflow isn't anymore. Replacing the entire part is a lot simpler like Terry did on his car:

taking out the cats gives the car a deeper sound , and maby some back fire... but as raymond sayd, you might loose power if it is not done corectly..

when i first strarted with replacing my mufflers and cats.. with straight pipes... the car lost power... but then i had a profesional look at the system... i got ever more power, than i had with my first stock system.

mind you i had to go from 4 endpipes in my diablo SV to the 2 end pipe diablo 6.0 endpipes... now i have better throtel respons than with the stock system i started out with.....
hope that info helps

The most common is the original ANSA sport exhaust of the Urraco P300 and Jalpa. But this one doesn't exist any more.
Stebro makes a copy of it, Larini and Quicksilver are doing the same.
Stebro is US, the other two are from UK, I can't give you a suggestion which one might suite you the best, I think the Stebro is the easiest to get in your position.

Emery
The Stebro system for the Jalpa listed on their site is $2,500. They are also on Ebay with a "Buy it now or best offer" price of $2,450. You should make them an offer of $1,250 and see if they bite. BTW my Stebro sounds awesome.

sorry im not sure how he figured it out... but it was a process off trial and error, if i remmember corectly... but i remember him sugesting that there was too much air flow.. and that the 2 pipe system might help...

when we were done fitting the 6.0 end pipes.. the diffrence was verrry noticable...

Laust...you out there??? Didn't you or someone else rip all the insides out of the cats??? Sounds easier than putting straight pipes in place of the cats. How does it sound and perform if anyone has done that??????
