Hi All,
Whilst moving the car it was noticed that I had no brake lights. Now I know that the brakes might need bleeding as there is no action in the pedal, until it is at the limit of moment. So with this concern in mind, are the lights activated by a pressure switch, i.e. I need a knew brake servo , or by a contact switch, i.e. its down to Italian electrics? Thanks in advance, SJC |

The factory supplied option is a hydralic pressure switch, it is located in the front of the car from memory under the battery tray. Remove the battery and you will probably be able to see it. Must be a common problem, I had the same issue on a friends diablo the switch's are reasonably cheap. Someone has retro fitted a contact switch on to my car.

Hi All,
Well after some further investigation it looks like the servo is okay. There is plenty of fluid in the reservoir, but it is discoloured at the back. Now speaking to a meachanic, he cliams, that this is ususally a sign that the seals have gone on the master cylinder and the discolouration is the rubber breaking up. He also had me do a test by pumpng the pedal up,, with the engine off, and seeing if the pedal drops when the engine is started. Which it didn't. So he feels that need to swap out the master cylinder. As I've already got a new servo I was going to get either a new cylinder or rebuild kit and fit a whole new setup. Better safe than sorry on the brakes. As I have chassis #283 I know that I'm on the later setup. However does anyone know if such a rebuild kit exists? |

Update:
I fyou look on the side of the brake cylinder it is a Bendix part, number: 1409107. Refurbs are only available through Bendix dealers. After tracking one down it is not possible to rebuild this unit, with an official 'kit'. However they, Brakes International, gave me the details of a local brake specialist, who also specialises in classic cars, J&L Spares Export Ltd, +44 1706644210. Ask for Phil or Scott. They managed to machine, paint and reassemble mine so it is looking like new. I'll be honest and say it wasn't cheap at 200UKP. But it is a lot cheaper than waiting for one to appear for sale as I want to use the car. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...T_IMG_3685.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...T_IMG_3684.jpg |
