I just installed MSD in my jalpa and the Tacho doesn't work either. Tried the adapter from MSD and that didn't work. What is this little trick raymond?

I don't think Topcarbon's Tacho worked on his car too...

Ryno,
My tach was sent to a place in California called Redline. They specialize in converting the guts from analog to digital.

UPDATE!

I tried to do your trick raymond but my car does not even have the same color wires. I drove the car with no Tacho and with the MSD/SS coil, it ran like crap! It would sputter when you tried to accelerate and just stalled many times. I'm just going to switch back to the original ignition system, It ran great before and I'm not going to mess with a good thing!

Also my mechanic said that with the MSD if you have a problem you can't diagnose the car untill you remove the MSD. I'm sure I could get it to work right but I'm not interested in messing around. Also after not being able to get the Tacho to work I found out that I would have to send it to California to a company that converts it from analog to digital. Good Luck guys

Perhaps you used the wrong distributor signals, I experienced the same on my first tries...

I am also experiencing similar problems after the installation of the MSD6-AL & blaster 2 coil on my jalpa. The car will start but does not idle properly. If I can get the RPM up above approx 1500RPM then it seems to clear and rev OK. When I go for a drive the spark seems to break down under load. I have new spark plugs and have replaced the coil lead with a new MSD ignition lead, all spark plugs have the spiral wound ignition leads as recommended in the MSD installation. Raymond, are you saying that possibly the green & purple wires are around the wrong way or that Rhino was using the white wire?

The white wire you can't use, but from the distributor are coming 3 wires to the bosch box, pin #3,6 and 7
http://www.jalpa.ch/Ignition/index.html

As far as I remember I used #3 and 6, I have to check the picture I made, can't remember right now.
I know I had to mess around with these 3 wires to get the car running, once I got the right combination it run perfect at idle and every rpm.

I used #7 for the green wire and #3 for the purple of the MSD box
AND I wired the heavy black of the box to Pin #6, perhaps this is also evident.

Raymond, thanks for the picture, I did not put in the brown (loop) wire in as I was able to use the tacho output from the MSD to get my tacho working. I will try and put this back in just in case it is serving another purpose, and double check the rest of the wires.
