They are hard plastic with a soft side that is against the car. It is to prevent damage when the car is being serviced. That way you do not get scratches and dings in the shop. They are pretty cool.

The headlights on the LP-560 are my absolute fav. I love looking at them on my 560 (in midnight club: LA)
