Default WANTED - Ignition box for Jalpa

Hello,

I am looking for one or more ignition boxes for the Jalpa. It should be the Bosch OEM unit, part no. 0 227 300 002. Also in non-working condition, with or without the coil. Some of You switched to MSD or Perma-Tune, and may be interested in selleing the old one.
I will pay a good price. Need them for motorsport.

Thanks,
Peter

Ask Lonnie from Permatune, he collects the old Bosch boxes for rebuilding with his own unit in the original housing.

Raymond,

do You think that someome who rebuilds or sells replacement ignition boxes, would sell "core parts".

Another question: there are some posts here about a rev limiter in the Jalpa. As far as I know the ignition box, it does not contain one. Did the distributor has one of these rev-limiter fingers? I can not remember it on my own Jalpa.

Btw: My car was N# 12111, red with tan interior. Gearbox still with porsche syncromesh . A car of a friend , only some numbers later, already had the ZF transmission.
Should be still in Germany.

Very nice Forum.

Still looking for Bosch ingnition boxes and coils.

-Peter

My jalpa cut off at about 7000rpm, the older versions had a rev limiter of 7400rpm, but they faced problems with broken valves and lowered the limit.

I also thought that the limiter could be in the distributor but found no proof so far.

Peter, can you share pictures of #12111 and where is it today?

Raymond,

atached is a picture of my Jalpa (the red one), and a black Jalpa of a friend.
You can see that the red one is a little bit to high at the rear end, it is because the engine was not in place at that moment. And I could not find a better pic.

The car was sold here in Germany, but I have no contact to the buyer since then.

And I did find an original Jalpa sales brochure, left over from the car.
I will give it on top of the deal to the next seller of an old jalpa ignition box.

Raymond is it possible as Peter mentioned in his earlier post that the Bosch unit in the older Jalpa's have no rev limiter. This would explain why I have taken mine to 7500 with no cut off. I have sent my Permatune back to Lonnie to see why its shuts me down at 5000 rpm's.

Here are pictures of the ignition box and what I am pretty sure is the rev. limiter (+ messy harness).

Btw. they are for sale to any interested party. They worked well when they were installed 4 years ago.

I am quite sure that my Jalpa did NOT have this rev limiter, I did a complete rebuild of the motor electrics due to a fire in the engine compartment. It was ELA12111.

Btw: A great idea to put the fuel filter directly above the exhaust

Raymond: I think I have the number of the black Jalpa somewhere, but can not find it at this moment. Will post it if i get it. It was a younger car, with ZF based gearbox.
