Default Ford GT

There has been an awful lot of price gouging on the Ford GT's in the U.S. A local dealer here in Nashville, Tennessee, has been asking over $220,000 US.

I'm not keen on the Ford GT.

They are built under the supervision of Saleen, who recently fired several people over QC issues...but that's not why I'd avoid them;

There's no historical data on what a newly released version of an old classic will do on the resale market.

At $139K, I'd consider one. At $220K, I'd have to be Bill Gates rich to squander $100K at the time of purchase.

Plus, when it's all said and done, its' still a Ford...one with NO racing heritage (yes, I'm well aware of the original cars' racing lineage, but this car has yet to be proven on a track) and if no other reason, I just wouldn't be comfortable telling people "I drive a Ford GT," which I'm sure begets this reply, "Oh, I use to have a Mustang, too."

Pass.

Don't know and will be interesting to see ... because this is mostly an American muscle crowd, I'll bet it will fetch top dollar, over 200K I say.

Craig - yes no heritage, but the "real" car spanked the factory Ferrari team and the "new" version blows away a 360. The car is badged as the Ferrari killer and that was the intent when Ford brought her back to life.

What's unfortunate is that it will create a feeding frenzy on the auction block, then the Diablo goes up and the crowd will probablly "cool down" by then. Non the less, always fun to watch.

For those of you on the other side of the pond that don't get speed channel, I'll post the numbers here after the auction..
