I want to see you sell the car and so do the others. We don't mean any disrespect. These guys are not vultures and I do not think you are going to lose any business by people posting here. Everyone here who is in the market knows they can call Roy and get a fair price in two minutes.
Here is my advice IF you really want to sell it: I think you should remove the tubi, put the original exhaust on, and sell the tubi for $1500-2000. The car is also easier to sell without tubi. Then list the car for $169k. Most people dont know you can get a BRAND NEW 2005 E-Gear Gallardo for $165K easy. 25K++ below sticker. So these guys will call the dealer who will sell to them for $175-180 and they might try to negotiate with you on your car since it is practically brand new. But if someone offered you anything like $165k, you got to take it. You can buy another for $165k any day of the week. Except for sale tax considerations, if you give me more for my car than it is worth, SOLD. Especially when I can buy a BRAND NEW one tomorrow and drive it. Offer me more for my used Murci than a NEW one which I can drive home tomorrow and it is a no brainer. The plus side is if you keep the car, you probably can still get $150k next year. So you have taken the worst hit already. |

You're right to a degree...the 04's aren't bringing the same money as the 05's...the lifting system seems to be the deciding factor in that seperation overall...and keep in mind...126k on a 04 Gallardo is actually a WHOLESALE price...if a person were patient, pulling 145k on a good used 04 isn't a problem...it's all about timing.

...wholesale on 04's now edging down towards $110. My guess is it will touch $100k by late spring. As soon as a face-lifted Gallardo is released (sometime next year at a guess), 04's will drop to between 90-100K...
A great buy at anything near that price.... |

This will only hurt lamborghini in the long run......there canibalizing there own market. deep discounts on 04's means deep discounts on 05 & 06's to come........my 04 only 14 months old ,, thats quite a hit..... there over producing, Demand will never keep up with supply.......... thanks Audi... ...your right "A Great Buy" at that price... i wish i waited and saved 60K on one with only 3-4 K miles on it. Gallardo buyers take note... Last edited by gsico@cs.com : 01-05-2006 at 04:03 AM. |

I don't think it's a case of Lamborghini 'overproducing' the car. It is simply a fact that the Lamborghini 'name' has not as yet got the respect it deserves for it's products like Ferrari has. Arguably the Gallardo is a better car than the 430 (V10/4-wheel drive/Audi components, etc), but there is simply not the demand for their products as there is for those from Ferrari. Given a few years, Lamborghini will be as desired as Ferrari and the resale values will be as strong. The best thing Lambo could do to preserve their brand is reduce the price of the new cars by $20 - $30K, thereby demonstrating a major price advantage to Ferrari. Quite soon buyers will see that purchasing a one or two year old Gallardo for $120 - $150K makes much more sense than buying brand new and throwing away $50 -$60K...
Right now, the only Lambo's that make any sense to me for purchase are either a good used Gallardo for about $140, or a good used Murci (03/04) for around $225. Compare those numbers to the price of the 'new' product....and Lamborghini has a BIG problem developing. I acknowledge that the initial 'euphoria' with the Gallardo Spyder and possibly a 'new' Murci variant will see some initially strong sales, but don't be fooled: the buyers of these cars will see their values drop just the same as any of the other 'new' Lambos of the past 5 years. No getting away from this for the better part of a decade...when their name should rightfully rival Ferrari. |

Great info in this thread. I have a question about Diablo values as related to Murci/Gallardo supply and demand. It seems to me that as more late model cars come on the market the Diablos will drop in value because the new technology cars will be perceived as a better value(in another year or so). A 125k 4yo Gallardo and a 125k 12yo Diablo are very far apart when considering maintenance costs. I personally desire a Diablo but it's hard to ignore what the same money buys in the Gallardo. Thoughts anyone? --Dave--

I think we've seen Diablos bottom and actually rebound, and all the other older Models have made a sharp rise.
Not only do the older cars look different....but they were produced in such few numbers that nice ones can't lose their value (and are actually gaining in desirability). And as time goes on I believe you will see many NEW buyers owning TWO Lambos (if not more) one for daily driving and one for a Trophy of what kept Lamborghini on the Map for the last 40+ years. The younger guys will lease a new car and Buy a Diablo, the older guys will buy TWO Lamborghinis... It's already happening, just as predicted right here 2-3 years ago. And the why is simple, Production numbers!, Lamborghini is one of the most Exclusive Exotic Supercars ever Built.... |
