Hello Everyone,

Well, the first EuroSunday Fresno is now in the books. The day started off at 6:30 a.m. with a few diehards meeting up for the breakfast club. A Triumph, Pantera, and a BMW M3 made up the early morning car caravan to Bentley’s Fresh Market after some fun conversations about EuroSunday and other car related topics.

Upon arriving at Bentley’s we were given 25 parking spots, with know one knowing what to expect. The 25 designated spots were gone in a matter of minutes, due to the wonderful turn out. The limited parking lead to some interesting parking issues as we had to park the cars in a fashion differently than the traditional EuroSunday format, but we made it work. The traditional EuroSunday format consists of having the exotic, rare, and vintage cars showcased up front. Instead we had a inter mingling of cars parking together which still turned out to be a great mix of different marquees and models.

The cars that showed were absolutely amazing. A few members of the British car club were out in their stunning E type Jags, several Aston Martin’s, Lotus Elise’s, and a beautiful collection of other British makes. The Ford GT and Vipers showed up in force to the event along with multiple Ferraris. The amazing Ferrari turn out ranged from F430’s, F360’s, and 308’s just to name a few. A group from San Jose showed up just in time for the drive in their F360, Testarossa, and 308. Several BMW’s and VW’s were in attendance and we had a great showing by the local NSX guys. A Lamborghini Murcielago snuck in later at the event along with a few Porsches and a great variety of other Euro makes. We counted about 100 cars on the days tally for the show part of the EuroSunday event.

The drive after the event had a wonderful turn out, with about 30 cars going on the drive we weaved our way back through the hills behind Fresno. The group got a little thinned out, but everyone had a great time on some good roads. The after the event lunch at Daily Grill was the largest group ever for a EuroSunday event with about 50 people present, everyone chatted and had great conversation about the cars and the days event.

With the first event in the books and with such a wonderful turn out we look forward to seeing our new friends out at the next EuroSunday, and look forward to watching the continual growth among the new EuroSunday Fresno family.

EuroSunday features a car or bike to be the car/bike of the month. This month we chose Troy and his beautiful wide body 356 Porsche.

EuroSunday Plus Recap Sacramento:

This month’s EuroSunday Plus in Sacramento highlighted Pantera, DeLorean, and Bricklin makes as the featured marquees. With ten Panteras, a Bricklin, and a DeLorean there was an enormous of horsepower disturbing the otherwise docile tarmac as they rolled in to Pavilions. Each car was as unique as the owner, one of which had a nitrous kit installed in an already powerful car. Several interesting vanity plates also made this Plus event one of the most entertaining to date. The solo Bricklin and DeLorean fit right in to the groups making for some amazing photo opportunities.

Several other mentionable cars in attendance were Dennis and his Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series, Greg in his classic Stingray Corvette, and Don in his new 2008 BMW M3 with the massively strong new V8. Some new cars in attendance were a yellow and red Ferrari F360, a yellow Ferrari F430, and four Maserati GranSport coupes. Ferrari had an amazing showing for the event, given the featured marquees. The event featured the most diverse showing of Italian cars to date for a EuroSunday Plus event. There were several other vehicles on hand including a Factory 5 replica racing cobra, two beautiful 1969 Camaros, a slew of Acura NSX’s, several BMW’s, and Audi and Volkswagen cars. There was a good showing of bikes at the event as well including Ducati. Colby and Joe from Luxury Motors were on hand in a beautiful Morgan club car. Grant and Aaron from Dream Car Solutions were out to support the Pantera club in a stunning Orange Pantera powered by a vicious GT-40 race block.

The event ended around 10:00 with the ground shacking pavement begging for mercy, as large block V8’s started up and departed. There were a few late comers that rolled in at the last minute, including a Ferrari F430 with a challenge grill, and a Silver Porsche Carrera GT.

The next EuroSunday Plus in Sacramento will feature British cars of all makes and will be meeting in Davis, California. Details will be posted to the website soon.

EuroSunday Bay Area Recap:

This April, EuroSunday Bay Area converged on Mountain View for its first appearance on the Peninsula. There were 172 cars in attendance despite the array of events going on (such as the Long Beach Grand Prix). One of the first cars on site was a 1968 Lamborghini Miura, following the Miura, we had numerous other standout cars including three Porsche GT3RSs. Two of these GT3RSs are currently featured on the front of Modified Luxury and Exotic magazine for April. Also seen at this month’s event…a BMW M3 lightweight, an Ariel Atom, a Porsche 993 RUF R Turbo, several forced-induction e46 BMWS M3s, a nice row of BMW 6-series, a Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series, and a fleet of American thunder in the form of Corvettes, and Vipers. The atmosphere was full of enthusiasm, so much in fact that Mountain View and Los Altos black and white finest showed up to hangout. You know you have a good event when the boys in blue are acting just like the rest of us kids in a candy store.

In April, the staff here at EuroSunday decided to try a new format for our afternoon rallies. While we had the traditional afternoon drive to lunch, we now offer an afternoon roundtrip rally with lunch. Sunday’s rally start from Mt. View began with a jaunt down the freeway towards Woodside. From Woodside we made our way down the infamous NorCal highway 84. This is one of the most popular roads in California among motorbike and car enthusiast alike. From the bottom of highway 84 we came back up Pescadero Creek towards Alice’s Restaurant for lunch. Now I don’t know about everyone else, but I had a few laughs when I noticed half our group passing us in the opposite direction. Lesson #1 for EuSu staff, we need to bring even more maps – we just never seem to have enough! Lesson #2 for EuSu staff, do not trust Google Maps. Why?.... the road from highway 1 up towards Big Basin was in fact a fire road. Local California Department of Forestry Fire was very helpful in finding the right route for us though. Big Basin offered some truly miraculous scenery and some incredibly narrow single land roads. All in all for those that went on the post-lunch drive we covered a total of 155 miles on Sunday including the morning drive.

You may have noticed last month that we began choosing a “Car of the Month”. Well, April’s Bay Area car of the month is none other than the BMW M3 lightweight! Please feel free to check out our website where you will find all the information on the car. As EuroSunday continues to grow, our creativity and ideas for new events continue to grow as well. We want to thank all of you for coming out on Sunday, and we want to thank all of you for supporting EuroSunday. You are the most important part of making EuroSunday possible.

EuroSunday’s Sacramento gathering was a record breaker this April, with approximately one hundred cars in attendance. We had one of the broadest collections of cars and bikes Sacramento has seen to date. In terms of motorbikes, everything from BMW to Ducati’s new desmodici arrived on scene. The event was also blessed with the new BMW M3 decked out with one of the first coilover kits from Ground Control. In addition, Sacramento enjoyed the presence of a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Porsche GT3RS, a Porsche 997 Turbo, a Corvette Stingray, Bentley Arnage and an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, to name a few. Some new additions to EuroSunday this month were a Morgan Club Car, a 2008 Subaru WRX STI, a number of Cobras, and a Dodge Viper GTS whose owner drove all the way from Jackson, CA.

Announcements were given by Sacramento’s new spokes woman Amar, who has graciously agreed to volunteer at Sacramento’s monthly gatherings. A highlight of the event was Abram from Autobahn Detail who showed off his pristine BMW E36 M3. Also, the Sacramento Acura NSX club arrived with a number of cars that could not be ignored. A fan favorite at this month’s event was “Poppy Row”. An array of spectacular yellow vehicles lined up together in the main parking lot, giving rise to the phrase “Poppy Row.” “Poppy Row” was comprised of a race spec Acura NSX, Porsche Carrera RS, Ferrari F30, Porsche 914, Lamborghini Gallardo and a convertible Porsche Carrera. Sunglasses were a necessity to observe this stunning display.

The event drive was an 80 mile trek through the hills of Placerville lead by EuroSunday co-founder Adam Cook in his BMW E46 M3 CSL. Twenty-Four cars traveled along HWY 50 inviting the stares (and drools) of other less fortunate motorists who were not part of the bevy of BMWs, Porsches, Vipers, Corvettes, Acura’s, Audis, Cobras and hot motorbikes in a swift moving caravan. An interesting twist to our “Sunday drive” was our happening upon a group of 1960’s Corvette Stingrays also out on a “Sunday drive.” The groups traveled together for a few miles forming one massive high horsepower convoy. The Stingrays eventually pulled off to regroup, with our EuroSunday drivers honking and waving to show their support and respect for fellow gear heads. The drive ended in Folsom where 16 attendees gathered for lunch where, of course, conversation about cars continued. All agreed, a perfect way to end an afternoon.

Keep on the look out for EuroSunday’s exciting new changes and events in Reno, San Diego and Seattle, WA will be commencing in July and August respectively.

The Bimmers Have it
30. April 2008Event

The third installment of EuroSunday was yet again another success. Arriving at 5 minutes to 10 at the nearby gas station to full up, I have an encounter with my first Bimmer. Noticing the carbon fiber trunk, I immediately assume it is here for EuroSunday. After a short conversation with the owner, however, the encounter is purely coincidental–I asked if he, the owner, is here for EuroSunday. Instead of an enthusiastic YES!, I get a questioning look. “What’s EuroSunday?” With a big grin on my face, I fill him in on the event he happened to stumble upon. Excited, he lets me know he’d be back to check it out. Little did I know 3 quarters of the cars that would show up were bimmers! And mostly all M’s at that!

A modified E60 BMW M5, an E39 M5, a plethora of M3’s [no less than 9 of them all modified in one way or another], a white Z4 M Roadster and an M3 CSL conversion were just a few of the bimmers that showed up. It was almost as if this were a bimmer meet-up. Luckily, a pair of classic 70’s mint condition Triumphs, a few late model Audi’s, a Jaguar S-type R, a silver W210 Mercedes-Benz AMG E55, a white Porsche GT3, a Porsche Carrera convertible, and a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera sprinkled the field of Euro’s. What a sweet turnout! I immediately greeted the drivers and took out my camera to capture the moment. After a few hours of conversation and photography, low and behold the modified bimmer with the carbon fiber trunk showed up. The owner was pleasantly surprised that he stopped for gas that morning and pledged he’d be a regular at future EuroSunday’s.

The plan was to drive south to Speed Demons while along the way we would stop and meet-up with some Mini’s. Being that only a few had planned to go carting, the opportunity to hit the pit lanes at Homestead Miami Speedway seemed like a bit more fun. There was a Porsche/Mini event being held at the track which provided for some awesome photography. Look for some planned track events for EuroSunday in the near future. I, personally, can’t wait…

EuroSunday Fresno Recap:

Fresno is quite frankly one of the scariest EuroSunday events I have been to so far. Now think about what I am saying for a minute. With 4 Ford GTs and close to 10 Dodge Vipers in attendance there was an abundance of horsepower. But with Whipple Supercharger being a local Fresno company, many of these freakishly fast cars were sporting 200 or even 300 extra horsepower. That means some of these cars were making close to 800 brake horsepower. While there was a plethora of events going on around California such as the Ferrari races at Infineon, the turn out for EuroSunday was still healthy with close to 75 cars.

Among these 75 cars there was a handful of diversity. Everything from the Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, Austin Heeley, MG, Mini, Lamborghini, Lotus, Bentley, and BMW made a showing. At one point during the event a gentleman with a Orange Lamborghini Diablo showed up and I asked the guy if he was here for EuroSunday. His response was not what I expected, “who are you and what is EuroSunday?” Turns out he was stopping for coffee, but instead I got to sell this guy something even more addictive. He was hooked! It seems while Fresno is one of the smallest cities we host an event in, it generates some of the most powerful and most beautiful cars EuroSunday has.

Right on schedule the group rolled out for an 86 mile journey up through the foothills. We headed up towards Squaw Valley and hooked a left down Elmwood Rd. Now I am not sure about you, but I felt like a heard of cattle with the number of cattle guards on the road. One Lotus fell victim with his exhaust system taking a severe blow, but after some side-of-the-road manipulation he was back up and rolling. Shortly, the group rolled back into Bentley’s Fresh Market to chow down on some great food. While it may have marked the end of EuroSunday Fresno for May, I can tell you I am already looking forward to the event next month.
