I picked up my car today after 12,000km service.

All the "upgrades' were done except e-gear. The tech couldn't fault it (nor could I) and therefore saw no need to flash the ecu.

The other fixes were new screws in the engine bay and the coil covers etc. Also changed the level on the dipstick. Apparently the Full level is too full, and Lamborghini is recommending a new (lower) upper limit.

The dealer changed the gearbox oil as he thought it needed it, even though it is not required on the schedule. He also fixed a bush on the rear swaybar that has been noisy. Another thing he fixed was to adjust the locking lever for the adjustment on the steering column to give a more positive over-centre lock once in place.

He checked the e-gear clutch wear - showing about 20% of the wear likely to require clutchplate replacement. He said the computer showed I had been treating the clutch well - I guess he would know that I have done no launch starts and I put the car in neutral at the lights most times.

He said the tyres are fine on the front, but are likely to need replacement on the rear soon. I've done 12,700km. He commented that Lamborghini are OK with replacing the rears but keeping the fronts (unless you are tracking the car, I guess) despite the manual suggesting all should be changed at once. Like, two sets of rears for one set of fronts. Despite this suggestion, I'll get them all changed when the rears are ready to quit.

I paid for a full detail too. The car looks brand new again. The wheels wells are clean and he must have removed the wheels for cleaning as well as they are shiny inside across the full width.

I paid $A1900 including the detail including a polish - I can't remember how much the detail was, but it was more that $A200 I think. Labour cost was over $A900. (Bunkhound, what's all this in USD before someone asks?) Not cheap compared to my AMG Mercedes, but not unexpected either.

The tech told me that my car is the highest mileage Gallardo in Australia.

I'm very happy with this dealer (Solitaire Automotive in Adelaide). The head mechanic who serviced the car spent a long time going through exactly what he had done in painstaking detail, showing me his working notes, and not just the bill.

I'm very impressed all round. The car is immaculate and running beautifully. Both the car and the ownership experience exceed my expectations.

To be honest, this being my first exotic, I had no idea what size bill to expect. The new tyres look like costing twice as much as the service, although this is no more than the new SO3s on my C32.....

Ok i was $42 out on my conversion. Sounds like about right to me. I've been quoted £750 for second service @ USD $1.83 = £1 thats USD $1372
