Default Is the Nose Lift Control Helpful?

Test drove an 05 Gallardo yesterday and was impressed with the range on the lift control. However, I was wondering how much you current owners actually use the feature. Is it just a nice gimmick or is it something practical that you use often?

Also, the dealer told me that the seats in the 05 were much more comfy than the seats in the 04 cars. Is that accurate?

Thanks for the info. -- getting ready to pull the trigger in the next couple of weeks.

You will use the lift system on driveways and speed bumps A LOT. And if you're up north, you'll probably use it for parking lot potholes too.

Yes the 2005 car did have a varation in the seats...plus a few seat combo options not available in 2004.

Let me know if I can get the car you want...give me a try!!

Thanks Roy

I've had the car for 4 years, and never found any need for the lift system. Unless your accesses are unusual, you can consider it somewhat of a gimmick. For 2009, it looks like the system is "new" (i.e. no longer using the power steering pump--which has developed leaks in previous years); it's also now an extra cost option to bump up the price, obviously.

I use my lift control every time I go in my driveway or exit my office parking garage - I used to scrape my 2004.

Well, there are only so many ways that a producer can pass along inflation to the end customer, and this is one way. Got to make up for that toilet paper US$ somehow!

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like opinions vary, so let me ask the question a different way. How much clearance does an 04 Gallardo have in the front? I have a Lotus Elise and it has 5 1/4 inches and I've never had a problem scraping the chin on it.

Not sure of the answer, but you need to look at entry angle, not just "ground clearance". You could have 10 inches of ground clearance, but it won't matter if the front overhangs the front axle by 2 feet.
