My reply on the Ferrari site was the 599. Just to be politically correct, I will say the LP here. Heck - I can't decide - that's why I bought them both!!!

Two different cars, two different opinions. They both have their ups and downs.... just like almost everything in life.

I agree that the newer F cars are looking too much like other cars. Gone are jaw dropping designs and instant recognition. Saw a 430 the other day and had to study it real hard to tell if it wasn't a Corvette. Now, too much safety is designed in and compromises to the design create bland looking cars.

Sorry for the commentary, back to your favorite....
IMHO any, and I mean ANY Lamborghini you encounter has jaw dropping charisma. Like you said, new F cars are no longer 'exotic'.

I think you guys are nuts to say the new F cars are not exotic.

The definition of exotic is unusual, out of the ordinary, interesting, glamorous, striking and/or outlandish. Although the F may not be as striking or outlandish as the L, it is certainly just as out of the ordinary, interesting and glamorous.

To most, the F is the quintesential exotic. The history of F is almost biblical to some (like me)....

I think I can shed some light on this. Not sure if the other guys are on the same page as me. You are right about it being an exotic. I don't think anyone is arguing with that. But my point is the radical nature of the design. The ferrari's are more normal shaped. From a distance the vette/430 looks similar (similar width, height, etc.). The 612 and 599, while unique, have the dimensions of a normal car. This may be a bad example, but here it goes. No other car, with the exception of other extreme exotics (enzo, s7, etc.) has such radical dimensions. I have never had a diablo or murci "sneak" up on me. At night, or during the day. During the day, even when glancing in my rearview, the lambo's are so low and wide that they stick out like a sore thumb. No other cars on the road have their profile. Whereas a 599 or 612 coming up on you, is the same height/width as a normal sports car. There is nothing unusual that catches you, until the car pulls up, and you realize what it is.

And as for the ferrari being more practical. I know why i think it is. Neither car is really "practical." But the reasons for the lambo being less practical are right a long the lines of why I said it was more exotic. It is has goofy dimensions (very low, poor visability, etc.). I am not sure about the murci, but I know a diablo is approximately as wide as a ford expedition in the rear.

The ferrari is shaped more like a normal car. Now talka bout a testerosa, f40, etc. those had the radical design.

Lastly. Take a 599, and an lp640 and take them by a school and see which car the kids are more interested in. Or for that matter, take a group of people who know nothing about either ferrari, or lamborghini, and ask them which is more exotic.

Either way, you are very fortunate to have both of the bad a$$ machines!
And the 599 is a hell of a lot more exotic than anything I own.

Thats what they did in Top Gear. They took like 3 cars, one was i guess a Ferrari (not sure which one) i guess a 430 and a Porsche and a Countach. They took these cars infront of a school and guess what?, the kids were all over the Countach and nobody bothered about the other 2.

As a person that doesn't own any exotics ... yet... I can honestly say it is about how it looks.

I'm all about how something looks. I'll go with Ferrari for engine and performance, but the "wow" factor in terms of visual is definitely with Lamborghini.

Its not something you see quite often. And if a bunch of cars were going by, you could easily spot it. If a Ferrari went by in traffic, it "can" easily blend in... but I'm sure I'd be able to pick it out regardless.

Consider people that know nothing about cars. They'll turn their heads for a Lambo, but they may consider the Ferrari as just another car.

I personally want a vehicle where when I drive up to a friends place or something, they'll just be amazed. I want a head-turner.

Actually I think Lamborghini performance is better than Ferrari (Execpt the Enzo).

I always like both Ferrari and Lamborghini. I tried both and for me, the Ferrari has the WOW effect while Lamborghini is more of performance. But whenever I drive the Lambo, more people come to me and ask permission to get photo of my Gallardo than the F430. So I guess, people will notice L than F. But whatever people says, I loved both cars.

The 599 is not plain. It is a killer looking car...but probably more beautiful. The Lambo is nastier, more slutty then beautiful. Not really an apples to apples compare like say a 430 vs Gallardo. It's great you have both, they serve different needs/feelings.
