That is an interesting statement about Lamborghinis being better now othat Audi has them. So, were there quality and reliability issues before? The comfort improving makes a lot of sense given Audi's rep in that area. And yeah, one of reasons that I'm looking at the Gallardo is the fact that it's not bad as a daily driver; is this really due to Audi?

From everything i have heard and seen over the years - yes that is due to Audi. It not only makes everything more comfortable, ergonomic and reliable, but getting it worked on is more accessible too...particularly with the G based on parts availability (some being shared with RS series cars). Now if they would only give a similar warranty as the R8v10 is going to have...

So, deals like that off of MSRP are to be had on these cars? aka a car listed for 240 you can possibly score for 215k?

This doesn't mean that you can have a Lambo worked on at an Audi dealer, does it? Does this lower the cost of parts and labor perhaps?

It's funny how some people get excited about the Audi intervention, and all the refinements made are a given that it's for the better.

Just for the record, allot of us view it as major negatives. No harm intended from my comment, just a strike against the pedestrian features built into today's so called "exotics".

Audi dealer = almost definitely not. But where I live is definitely Audi country and there are several porsche / audi independent mechanics that regularly build race cars and the Audi relationship for parts and technology certainly drops the labor cost a bit cause i dont have to go to the dealer for everything (which is pretty far away for me...and i have seen dealers quoting outlandish prices for simple oil changes...so for me that is better)

Raymondo - i can totally see what you are saying, and dont argue that point, cause you are talking more about it feeling 'exotic' and like nothing else and the interior bits from common Audi's degrade that feeling. But I am kinda basing that statement off more of a reliability and availability factor. Top Gear related it well i think when they were commenting on and highlighting the fact that their test Gallardo actually had 99% of everything inside functioning properly...cept the ashtray lid was broke iirc. Its that side of the reputation of the 'exotics' that I would say has fared better due to such ownership.

Watch this video... YouTube - top gear lamborghini lp640 test

He talks a lot about the Audi influences... hopefuly this helps out. Turn up the volume... it will give you goose bumps.

Not only does Audi own Lamborghini, they also own Bentley and Bugatti.

That's a really cool video! I wonder how tall he is- I'm about 5'10, so I doubt the turn signal will hit my knees.

Again, the only thing that really worries me about the whole Audi/Lamborghini topic is the reliability of Audi- just looking in the forums for the TT is heartbreaking because all the owners say the same thing: They love their car but it's always in the shop. That's one of the reasons why I picked the 350Z over the TT.

Well I honestly wouldnt let that be your concern man. I have owned 5 Audi's and I never found that they were 'always in the shop'. I mean maybe the TT owners are a bunch of Honda and Toyota drivers that have never owned a German luxury car, and certainly its not a Honda or Toyota, but if you were just looking for a reliable A to B car, then get one of those. Between a 00 A4, 01 S4, 2 87 Coupe GT's (all gone now) and an 84 Ur-Quattro rally car (that i currently still own), I have always found Audi's to be pretty solid.

You cannot expect an exotic to be as reliable as an every day car. Sadly if your main concern is reliability, you shouldn't even be looking at an exotic...

You are comparing an Audi TT's reliability with a Lamborghini? Your thought process of this whole thing is way out of whack.

Reliability will be good, but you can't be shocked if something does go wrong. This is a car with 500hp. I haven't ever heard anyone complaining about a Lamborghini that is "always in the shop."

I personally believe you should be looking for a different type of car...
