Default How not to replace Gallardo clutches too soon

Hi Guys,

I have my 2008 Gallardo with e-gear for 3 months now. With 1,750 miles, not sure but I thought I felt some slipping on my clutch from time to time, most especially when making 90 degrees turn on low speed (first gear). I have yet to talk to my dealer about it. But how do you prolong the life of your clutch? I always used the speed mode, is that ok? I also love to sprint the car fast, since I thought that's what it is intended for.

Any opinion would be appreciated.

When I bought my 2004 Gallardo a year ago, my mechanic ( Murray of Bachus Auto) told me to make sure that whenever I am stopped, and need to accelerate --get going, to engage the clutch fairly quickly--not like taking off for a race, but never a "slow start". Starting slow rides the clutch.
todaty, I have 20,000 more miles on my Gallardo, from using this most days per week, and the clutch still works and feels like it did on my first day.

The most challenging issues you run into would be stop and go traffic jams on I-95..what I do is stop, wait for many more car lengths to open up than anyone else, then engage quickly, then shift to neutral and coast to next stop point. I also try to avoid I-95 during rush hour when jams are more likely.

Dan

Thanks Dan. I think the slips that I was experiencing is because of the wet spots on the pave road when I turned every morning. When I am on dry road, clutch is fine. But nevertheless, Good advice.
