Default Gallardo Superleggera

Seems like every car magazine this month is talking about the Superleggera. They think its the best thing since sliced bread. I'm first on the list to get one down here, which means I'll probably get the first sample in the US.

Does everyone - I DO - think this car is gonna be fantastic. The only problem I ever had with the Gallardo is that it felt heavy - unlike its competitor the F430, which feels very light and nimble. According to all the reviews, its seems like the SL has worked this problem out, which for me would put it well in front of the F430, since other than that its a superior car.

Once I get my Larini installed its gonna be perfect!

P.S. I'll post pics as soon as it arrives - hopefully soon...

It doesn't particularly impress me; you can save the 70 kg (100 kg weight savings is only for non-US spec model) on your own while also gaining more than the 10 hp it gives you for less than the price premium it commands. I guess there's some exclusivity involved, and the large carbon wing does look pretty sweet, as does the seats, but I haven't seen other low-volume G models (SE, Nera) carry their value forward to resale. I'm going to do the exhaust and pipes on my G this summer, and replace the battery with a lightweight one, which should cut at least 70 pounds off. I wish Lambo would really strip it down or give it a big power boost, we'll see what happens in '09, maybe some cool surprises.

What I really like is the fact that the programming has been re-worked and it seems to shift faster and respond quicker (forget the weight, its not very significant). Also, the cost of carbon parts partially justifies the cost. I was pricing out the tubi pieces and they are incredibly expensive.

Finally, I'll give you a piece of advise. If your gonna do the exhaust, try the Larini. I installed the Larini Sport (OEM pipes) on my G Spyder and the sound was off the charts gorgeous and loud. Way better than what I've heard from the Tubi (which to me sounds like a racing bike). This sound was deep and mean - what you would expect from a Bull! No need for the pipes - but I can only imagine. My dealer told me the pipes would void the warranty.

Lambo's charge for carbon parts is not inline with what they cost. $8k for the carbon package which consists of five interior pieces?! Not that I didn't get it on mine, it looks great, but guess that's the cost of owning an exotic. lol

I'm definitely going to go with Larini on the pipes, but on the exhaust it will either be Hammann or my own custom system I've been looking at doing using race mufflers from Burns Stainless. The Hammann system sounds fantastic, not whiny like the Tubi.
