Default Gallardo Oil Pressure Light

My car just showed up today, and it already appears that I have a problem. The engine oil pressure light is coming on anytime I am sitting still and put the car in neutral. I assume this isn't normal. Advice appreciated. It is an 04 Gallardo by the way. Thanks.

Ok. This is strange. I just took the car around the block again and could not get it to do the same thing again. Perhaps it thought I was taking it to the dealer. LOL. The light did flash again, but only twice, when I pulled into my garage. Maybe a problem. Dunno. I guess it could have been something as simple as the filler cap not being on tight enough first time out.

Did you check the oil level to make sure you've got enough oil

Please post some pics of your new ride

Check the oil.

Check the oil pump.

Put some Seafoam in your oil and do an oil change after 500 miles.

Thanks for the suggestions. The oil level is perfect and it was changed within the last month. When the car is idiling, the pressure level is just above the first tick mark on the guage. Is that normal?

I would get this checked out asap. If its a bad sensor, you want this working because you don't want any false alarms when this lights comes on...you want to know its the real deal and to shut your engine off immediately when you see this light

I don't own a Lamborghini, but I stick around to help out and dream lol..

If your oil pressure gauge is reading low, you should check your oil immediately. Your oil pressure sender may be malfunctioning or clogged. As I have said before, try seafoam in the oil, change the oil 500 miles after you add it.

It is by far the best treatment that you can do for your engine and I suggest you use it in the oil, gas, and also run through your pcv valve every oil change. Another possibility is that you are burning oil, but I seriously doubt it.

Another tip: The higher viscosity oil you use, the more protection your engine will have. With an engine that revs to 8,000 + I suggest 10w-40 at least. The only down side to this is that you will have to wait longer until the engine heats up before you drive it. 80% of engine wear occurs from cold starts! Never drive when the engine is cold.

You could always get a gauge pod and some aftermarket gauges. Then, you could just look up the pressure specifications at any given RPM and monitor your oil PSI in realtime. It's definatly not something I would take a chance with on a $200k car..

Thanks for the suggestions. Ferrari of Washington put in a new oil pressure sending unit and that did the trick. No big deal but it did cost about $800 to install. They also had to replace the front right wheel bearing which was making a noticeably loud noise (like a pickup with big tires) going around turns. The also had to replace one of the bulbs in the headlamps. All told I ended up sinking $2,138 into the car for stuff that Lamborghini of Atlanta missed during the PPI. How you miss a flashing oil pressure warning light, a burnt out headlight and a wheel bearing that is humming like the tires on a Mack truck during a PPI is beyond me. Enuff said.

And this is all straight from the factory?
What is the deal with Lamborghini??? You'd think for the price you pay they'd step up their quality control...
