Default gallardo: how much maintenance?

hello i am in the market for a 04 gallardo, but before i purchase one i would like to ask how much maintenance is involved (cost and how often). also do you have to get the oil changed from a authorized dealer (cost). if i was to change the oil myself would it be frowned upon?

Get an '05 or newer. I have a '06 G SE and 2 Murcie Roadsters. Trust me, you want the front end lift capabilitie or you will scrape the front end on everything.

?? I doubt the Gallardo has less ground clearance than the 5.5" of a Diablo. I have a driveway of about 20 degrees...Don't use the lift, doesnt' scrape. In any case I'd save the $25K difference in price if that's the only thing different worth mentioning, and just be carefull. My .02 cents

I've heard about a buck to a buck and a half per mile. That is how I've been budgeting. At first it is under warranty but I am expecting some big ones once the miles get high. If it does not happen I'm still earning a ripping 5% on my Capital One money market.

funny...i just registered on this forum just to ask this same question. i'm debating whether to get an '04 Gallardo or the new 911 turbo. financing options on the Gallardo are a lot more attractive so that's a plus, but what's is going to cost me to drive the thing? and is it something i can put about 5-6k miles/year on? i know the 911 can be used as a daily driver if need be. this will be a weekend car for me, but i want to drive it every weekend of the year!

I change my wiper fluid daily and put grease in the gas tank - runs like a charm

Actually, it seems the cars that are garage trophies are the ones that need more work.

Driven cars - - Need oil changes, brake flushes, tires. Over time, they'll need services as well.

Garage trophies - - Still need all that, and when they finally get driven, all the gaskets & seals have dried up, and there's oil leaks everywhere. Tires with dry rotting & flat spots, dead batteries, computers that set CEL lights because they can't run right on flat gas.

I see the mentality of "the more you drive it the more it costs" but there's another side to that coin....
