Noah calle dme this morning, and actually told me what happened, luckily the fire was caught in time. Covered under warranty, the E-Gear valve line caught a spark and set of a fire in the transmission, which didnt really spread that bad, but requires a new Tranny, obviously Lambo is covering it all. It is at Manhattan Motor Cars, being covered.
See you guys at the Gallardo Spyder Release!!!

Hey guys -- just saw this thread (Alex mentioned it to me last night at the party).
Again, inifite apologies that this happened Marcello. I hate when cars break down on customers (rare, but it happens) and obviously a fire is never a good thing! As Marcello posted, the problem was indeed caused by a burst e-gear line which then caused a flash fire in the rest of the bay. Thankfully, it was put out quickly and didn't do any significant damage to the rest of the engine or car. Lamborghini is being very professional (and apologetic) about this and is cleaning the car up beautifully and replacing every possible item that can be replaced (including the clutch w/ 16k mile on it!) Basically, the tranny will be brand new and all the lines will be replaced with newer materials from the '06 model cars (this seems to be something they were concerned about and beefed up, though it hadn't happened yet). So the short version is: all's well, nobody got hurt (thankfully!), and the car will be 110% when they're done with it. --Noah |
