Default Gallardo Cooling Question

I just purchased a 2004 Gallardo and realized after seeing the engine running a little warm that the expansion tank is "bone dry". The book says the coolant is filled for life at the factory and does not specify what type of coolant to add in case of it being low. It does indicate that the coolant is some special glycolic base that is a turquoise color. Does anybody know what type of coolant to put in this vehicle ? Otherwise, I get to wait until Monday until my local Lambo dealer opens. Thanks, your input is appreciated.

Steve,

I'm in Phoenix also. I have an '05 Gallardo. The coolant that Scottsdale Lamborghini uses is BMW coolant, bluish in color......same as in your car.
I got mine from the BMW dealer for about $19.00 gallon, if I remember correctly. Scottsdale Lamborghini was closed at the time. My overflow reservoir was pretty low also. I used distilled water at first, but then decided on coolant. The manual talks about the blue-colored coolant. I was worried about using Prestone (Yellow/Green) so I called Scottsdale Lamborghini and they told me about the BMW coolant.

Jeff

By the way, what color G do you have?

if the engine is only running a little warm and the expansion tank is low, you dont have to worry about just putting some water in it. it will mix with the coolant and cause no problems especially if you are in az, otherwise the bmw coolant.

just take care that you use water with no lime, lime will close the lines over the years.
