I just got an 04 Gallardo with E-gear.
If you feather the throttle, it takes of smoothly but is slow. If you are very aggressive, it bogs about 3 times before accellerating. It appears to me that the problem is that the clutch is not slipping enough under heavy throttle. When I am in sport and stability off, the launch technique is better but it still engages too soon, so the car launches at about 3500rpm and then the rpms drop down as the tires get grip. It's quick but it could be much better. I took it back to the dealer and they said there is no software upgrade, but it is merely a software adjustment that allows them to change how much clutch slippage is given by the E-gear system. When the did some adjustments, it was better for a few days but then seemed to get worse again. Is there really a software upgrade, or is the upgrade that I see commonly quoted really only an computer adjustment of the clutch engagement that is adjustable? If there was an upgrade, how would I know if my car has had it done?

Hi,
I got EXACTLY the same problem on my Gallardo 04. First I thought the clutch was damaged but Lamborghini confirmed to me that I have the latest revision installed already and that this cannot be the problem. The problem appears when I am accelerating on an uphill grade or trying to drive over even a little speedbump. I tried to activate the sport mode but the problem does not disappear. I have to drive the car on automatic to be able to accelerate smoothly. A solution for this problem I heard is to calibrate the clutch. An official Lamborghini Dealer does have the software for it. You could also ask a Chiptuning company if they have this kind of software. I heard some of them do have it. I am going to do this calibration within the next 3 weeks when an official technicial from germany comes with his laptop. I will let you know about the outcome. all the best, Chris |

OK, sounds good. It had the original clutch which does not appear to be slipping at all know. However, I do have a brand new "E" clutch sitting in a box that I will install as soon as this one starts slipping.
Theres no dealer near me, but I do have a local shop that sells many Lambos and will have all the new software available in a couple of weeks. Hopefully that will help out.

I know that the soft can be altered/manipulated. It has to be set against the state/condition of your clutch. So the person doing the mapping of the soft to the clutch has to be experienced. You also have to have it done 2/3 times before you get it right.

No, not at all. This is acceptable when clutch and soft is mapping together. Once the soft is 'bedded' into the wagon you'll be fine. It's the mechanical element of the system config that's the issue. Not build quality.

Hi everyone, I just fixed the problem for my e-gear yesterday. we can request the dealership to set the computer program to softer driving style. Bascially, they have several different programs for the e-gear, from shortest 4.44mm to longest 5.56mm of clutch travel distance. I did it for free, so I dont think anyone should pay for any service charge. hope my info can help.
