Default Back-up Camera On My LP640 Coupe

Due in large part to my recent incident (see yesterday's thread), I am definitely going to install a back-up camera on my 07' LP640 Coupe.

The 07' comes with a full size (2 Din) Kenwood 7017 DVD-NAV-VIDEO Head Unit, which is compatible with a back-up camera, so I don't need to upgrade the existing entertainment system. However, I have some questions / concerns regarding the back-up camera.
  1. What is the proper location for the camera?
  2. If it's installed where I think it should be installed (in the middle of the rear honeycomb screen) it will get very hot due to the exhaust gasses. How do I protect the camera and lens from getting marred or melting?
  3. Do I need any special adapters or parts to make the camera switch on when I put the car in reverse?
Anyone with information or experience with a back-up camera on an 07' or earlier Murci please help.

Thanks...

I think the young man took a wrong turn and ended up on my thread.

Anyway, I did some research last night and found that Kenwood makes a rear camera for about $200 (CCD-2000). Anybody ever used it???

My dealer installed the backup camera after delivery. It works great and definitely helps. I have had no problems with exhaust gases or lens smearing so far.

Are you keeping the roadster and getting the coupe?

The car I screwed up was the coupe. I already got it back and they fixed the scrape perfectly. I bought the matching Kenwood camera and I'm gonna have it installed by my custome guy.

I was thinking of having a hole cut out of the honeycomb right above where you installed your camera. I've seen them that way and you can't event see the camera. I'll take a pic after it's installed tomorrow.
