Default Clutch... the smell of $$$$ 94 Diablo VT

The 94 Diablo VT that I just bought needs a clutch.

Took her to dealer for check up and " THAT SMELL " followed me in.

Not going to cry over as the car is very, very clean. Clutch can be replaced but cancer kills....

My ?'s being...

What other work may I want done while motor pulled and are there any other shops besides dealer in Chicagoland that work on such a car.

Thanks!!!

Stettner... give me a call and I'll tell you I did on my 94VT a couple years ago..

First of all, I would ONLY put in a Kevlar clutch.. oem doesnt last long enough, and the CF version causes problems with the crank sensor (as the CF wears the dust is collected by the magnetic crank sensor which causes problems reading the crank... am speaking from experience)

While you are going in for surgery, I would AT LEAST do the small easy stuff because its even easier with the engine out. Here are a couple quick thoughts:
-belts (replace)
-plugs (replace)
-wires (expensive, so check the condition before just deciding to replace)
-all fluids (use agip, and pay attention to what the old stuff looks like)
-check the cap and rotor (you would be surprised what they look like over time)
-see if the water pump is leaking at all
-any oil leaks on the engine? (now would be a good time to re-seal anything that needs it)

As far as shops, I am not sure who the new mechanic is at L-Chicago... anyone here have any experience there yet?

Anyway, there are only a few mechanics in this whole wide world that I let touch my car.. I'll let you know who I use.

The plugs, belts and water pump are are fairly accessible with the engine in the car.

If I was doing mine again, and I would concur with the comment about only going with a kevlar clutch, I would get the starter motor and solenoid reconditioned or replaced. Aceess to this looks quite difficult with the engine in place

Good luck

Look into the Stage 3+ from SPEC. It is rock solid as I have it on my modified M5 and RUF 911 Turbo.

Thanks for all input.... So glad I posted and found Evans. I here nothing but good things about this shop. I feel relieved that she is in good hands.

Car has just over 13,000 miles. Test drove fine and no smell. I truly believe shipper took her remaining life.

Life goes on and soon one of my life long dreams of owning a Red 94 Diablo with a fin will come true. Wait, I guess I own it I mean the dream of DRIVING IT!!!!

Once she is home will post some pics of her and the rest of my 2 and 4 wheeled family.

Drop a email if ever in Chicagoland area. Can hook up and go for a RIP!!!!

THANKS!!!!!!!!
Craig

Yup, your Diablo is in the best hands it could be!

Blkdiablo32, have you had oil cooler line problems?

I have seen one where the hose came out of the fitting! (the crimp was not done right at the factory.. or where ever the hose came from)

Wondering if you experienced the same?
