I used a monroe strut insert - I then machined the end of the shock to fit through the mount. - pm me for info.

Default urraco shocks

Joe,
I have a '75 Urraco and in need of either replacing or rebuilding of my two rear shocks. My shocks have been sent out by my mechanic but have been out for months now. Can you list the details of how you rebuilt yours. Thanks
Jesse

OR,

You can take the unit apart and install a simple strut insert. The procedure is very simple. If you go to the monroe website. You can pull up a demension chart that lists the housing and shaft demensions of the various model numbers. I found one that would fit in the housing and provided the correct shaft length. If you need the part number I used I can get it for you, I know it is on this web site. The only machine work needed is the chrome shaft is to fat after the threaded portion. I had to mill down the shaft just past the threaded portion to fit through the strut bearing/mount. Local machine shop charged $10 a shock todo this. Replaced all the boots ect. with off the shelve stuff from napa.

I will tell you this - I have been told after the fact that these units I am using are to a nissan sentra. The fronts are perfect. The rears are a little soft. I must say my car rides very nice. This might be a turn off to some people. Sentra struts in a Lamborghini. For me it is perfect. I have other cars that are much faster ect. and the car is used strickly around town for me. The job looks completely stock when done.

PM me if you want to discuss the conversion in greater detail or on the phone.

Joe Frazar
