Default Removal of Jalpa ignition switch

Hello, I have a strange electrical problem which I think is related to the ignition switch. I'm trying to remove it from the housing of an 86 Jalpa w/o luck so far. I've turned the key to disengage the steering lock and the two screws holding the front plate to the metal steering column shroud. I do not see a screw which is #39 on the parts manual

click on Jalpa 3.5 to get the picture.

I'm wondering if I have to insert something in a little hole I see to depress something to remove the ignition cylinder similar to a Fiat.

No. There is another screw under it, it is hard to see. I'll post a picture of it as soon as I get home. I took me awhile to figure out myself. Give me an hour or so.

Sorry for the delay. The screw is actually behind the ignition on the right side. It is an Allen key. Please refer to image. If you need a better photo please let me know. The allen bolt is usually painted over so you have to look close.

Thanks a lot. I did see the hole on the side and even used a mirror and flashlight to peer in the hole but thought it was empty. Now that you describe an allen screw, that sounds like the answer.

I just had to replace my ignition switch/key asym in my car yesterday. Yes it is a Urraco but the parts manual lists the same number for the Urraco and Jalpa. I used a Fiat 124 Spider 1968-1977 switch asym - direct replacement. However you do have to make jump wire for the main power supply. On my original switch the main power supply is one terminal. On the replacement it is one for the run position and one for the start position. Use a multimeter and figure out your terminals.
