Hi Paul!!

Thanks for the chassis number info!!! So, it's possible the car Chris is looking at is a P111 w/ P300 bodywork, never doubted that. As I said, I've also seen cars touted as P250s that have some of the P300 styling features (front bonnet, bumpers, but no roll bar?! ...).

Looking at the dry weights on Glen's ILR site is interesting:

Jalpa - 1510 kilos
Silhouette - 1240 Kilos
P300 - 1100 Kilos
P111 - 1100 Kilos
P200 - 1250 Kilos
P250 - 1100 Kilos

Likely all taken from factory figures. Personally, I don't believe the 1100 kilo figure for the P250 based upon what I've read, having one, and talking w/ other owners, but I've never weighed my car (something else to do :-)). I've talked to folks and seen references that say the bumper and other reinforcements for the US market added ~ 200 kilos to the P111!!! I'm not sure I credit 200 kilos in true change , but would guess the P111 and P300 share differences that could drive a weight gain.

I always assumed the Silhouette being longer, wider and w/ more serious bodywork in the rear would be somewhat heavier than a P300. I like the Silhouette a lot, but I thought it basically had a P300 chassis? What was done to lighten it?

Regards,

Bryan

I always thought the the P300 was 1300 kilos. (claimed)

I had not noticed that Glen's site indicated 1100....this just can't be accurate

The Silhouette does not have rear seats or side glass for starters. The roof section is very light. Normally targa versions of coupes are heavier becuase of the need to reinforce the chassis and window pillars but not in this case.

I could be wrong but my Silhouette feels lighter than my P300 did. Thats why I always understood the 1300 verses 1240 claims
