Would this be part number 15 on the diagram below?

I don't know the Jalpa, but based on the Urraco I would guess this would attach to the breather tube ... Just an idea ...

That's the crankcase vent.

It's attached to the bank above the oil pump.

Default Air Box

I have attached this picture that Ross sent me of the air box you can see the base plate in the back ground that that pipe attaches to (Part 15 & from the photo Raymond posted), but its the extra pipe on the side of the air box that is in question

That must be from the very first jalpa's which had the P300 (in metal) box since the later didn't have this any more CLA12003 has already the new fibre glass one.
For me it looks like someone used a Jalpa box and prepared it for a P300.

Well, I didn't really ask him to pump it up any. He had a multiangle valve job done with the new stainless valves. That's supposed to give a few extra horse but talking to a friend of mine, one of the engineers that did alot of development work on the Eaton Superchargers for cars, he claims that after months of testing different valve grind angles there is really no measurable rise in horsepower after you go past 2 angles. I also had my headers ceramic coated inside and out which has proven to lower engine bay temperatures by half and give a 2 to 3 percent power increase. I also had the radiator recored with a higher effeciency core which should lower the temperature and give me a small bump while protecting the engine. There's a couple of gear heads in this forum that could really tell you how to bump up the power!

If the lobe is wiped out it is due to improper hardening (courtesy of Lamborghini), or in rare cases a cut-off oil supply; although the cams/lifters can get by with quite a limited oil supply without damage.

Cam journal. The aluminum had to be built up and remachined. I haven't heard any bad remarks from George or Mike about my Cam Lobes but thanks for the info Paul. One more thing to worry about!

Great Jalpa_Aus!

P.S. trying to get George to answer a couple of your questions. I wanted to pay a visit Saturday but it didn't work out so I'm planning on getting down this week. I'll talk to him then if he hasn't gotten you the answers.

I guess you may have your answer on your airbox Raymond. My air boxes came from Lamborghini (ordered through Lambostuff, thanks again Jalpa_Mike), very dirty and with the Original Parts Decals. They were ordered using the Jalpa part number. They are made of fiberglass so you won't see the quality of steel unfortunatly.

So what is the tube used for?

Maybe this winter I'll have my machine department make some air boxes out of billet aluminium.
Here's the pictures of the air boxes. After thinking about it all weekend I'm wondering if that tube isn't supposed to be tied into the charcoal filter? I don't think you guy's outside the U.S. have charcoal filters. We use them to trap fuel vapor.

SAD, SAD DAY. The State dumped salt and brine on our roads this weekend. I guess the only highway my Jalpa will see before spring will be from the inside of a trailer.

Here are Raymonds engine mounts after powder coating.

Very nice quality Raymond!

No, nothing to do with the charcoal filter, these tubes are like on the P300 for the crankcase vent, I suppose they don't have P300 parts anymore and made them from the Jalpa fibreglass since it looks like glued later on.

On the Jalpe this is for nothing because the crankcase vent goes onto the base plate of the rear bank.

Speaking of the crankcase vent. I talked to the original owner of my Jalpa. He told me that he was running at a high speed and the dip stick blew out because of engine pressure. The oil sprayed and it caught the engine on fire. He got it out with only minor damage. Ever hear of that?

This happens normally only when the piston rings were leaking or they closed the vent when they installed the open filters.
