Howz it Braddah,
I'm not sure how to import a Jalpa from other countries but I would suggest to get one on the mainland and ship it to Hawaii. I live between Kapaa, Kauai and Los Angeles and am about to ship a modified Subaru Forester there. Good to know the smog regulations there. Anything else I should know? Mahalo. |

That's about it. They just want to know if everything works on the car, as far as safety equipment...windshield not cracked, wipers, signal & brake lights, horn, tire tread. they couldn't care less if the catalytic converter or all the smog equipment is missing. They don't even look under the hood! Just don't come in with a super loud muffler.
![]() Forgot to tell you they need proof of insurance (just liability) and registration. |

Thank you for the info Emery. Let us know if you get your Jalpa. I bought mine almost a year ago from Carreaper ( Michael) and shipped it back to Los Angeles. I love it!

Some of the trouble might depend on what country you are shipping from. I agree, you might want to buy it from the US. I doubt you will save any money, and if you did get scammed out of the money at least you would be dealing with US jurisdictions. I am not trying to scare you, just saying "what if".

What's your thoughts on euro spec vs American spec Jalpa? Is it that big of a difference? On both versions can you change the inner set of spark plugs?
Has anyone seen Mathew Bauders red Jalpa needing a paint job in CT? His is US spec. Thanks |

I have a euro spec 83 Jalpa, It would be hard to change the spark plugs in mine, but you could do it. I think you have to drop the engine on the 82/83 US Jalpa. In the 1984-1988 cars they have a access panel so you can change the spark plugs with out much work.

It's the same on Urraco P300 and Silhouette, it's hard to do but it's possible, it's clear that it's better on the late Jalpa.

It took me over 7 months to find a Jalpa in the US. I know from this site that there are quite a few outside of the US that are for sale. There is one for sale for 33K. Here is the link....
