Default Help Needed - Jalpa Lugs / Wheel Bolts

Does anyone know where I can purchase a good quality set of Jalpa wheel lugs. My intent is to have them show chromed. I was told that the old number has been superceeded by a new part number for a Diablo... but no-one at Lamborghini apears to know if their interchangeable. I was going to try to get to garage the weekend to take one out and measure.

Any thoughts... I'm sure someone knows a better source that's probably a lot less money. Thanks, John

I know the bolt pattern is the same as a BMW from the 70s/80s. And lots of parts are from a Fait X1/9's so you might wont won’t to try them to.

Interesting question.

I've heard (from Kim and 'Chelle) that the bolts used on the Urraco are Fiat bolts. Doubt the Jalpa differs from the Urraco in this regard (in terms of size, thread, length etc.). I've been toying w/ new bolts as well, but they're far down my list at the moment :-).

You might try International or one of the other Fiat supply folks (Bayless or Bruce's for example) and order a few and see. They can always be returned, but you'll pay shipping (both ways likely).

Better yet, determine the measurements and call and ask about the Fiat bolts first. Bayless responds well to emails.

Let us know :-) I for one am quite interested (okay and lazy since I haven't done this myself ...)

Btw, FWIW - the bolt pattern does match BMW - 5 x 120mm if memory serves, but the offset on my car is 0. Bimmer replacement wheels seem to (typically) have more of an offset (unless you go modular) ...

Bryan

FWIW - I ran into a friend who had just purchased some chromed Fiat 124 wheel bolts off eBay. So ... I borrowed one ...

The Urraco bolt is a 12 mm bolt w/ most of the shaft threaded at 1.5 pitch, bolt head and 'flange' to hold the wheel about 1/2" long together (forgive the English measurement) and overall length ~ 40mm .

The Fiat bolt on the other hand has a deeper head and 'flange' ~ 3/4", a non threaded portion that together w/ the deeper dish extends about 1/2 of the length of the Urraco bolt (not good IMO), a pitch of 1.25 (that's a clincher) and an overall length of ~ 51mm.

So, based on this SINGLE sample, Fiat bolts don't look too good to me ... I'll have to ask Kim and 'Chelle again about what they used.

Regards,

Bryan

I bought some BMW spacers with longer chromed bolts for my widened Jalpa rear wheels and the bolts fit perfectly. However the socket needed for those bolts is 17mm rather than 19 mm for the original bolts. They also protrude a little more (hex is taller), which is not a problem for the rear wheels, but may not look as good on the front.

Here is an eBay reference to a spacer set similar to what I purchased:

I would guess that a BMW dealership will have those bolts as well.

Interesting seller Laust!!

Looking at the seller's Store, I see:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-L...8107QQtcZphoto

12mm shank x 1.5 thread, 39mm long. Sounds VERY close to my bolts. The cone seats look a little different ... comments anyone?

John - let us know if you try BMW bolts :-)

I also notice this seller makes not only what I consider very reasonably priced spacers, but also hub adapters that let you take one wheel bolt pattern to another ... interesting if you're eyeing some takeoffs for example ...

Whoops, if Laust's wheels work "perfectly" the different seats must be fine :-)

I just double-checked and the cone on the BMW bolts do engage uniformly on my Jalpa wheels, i.e. they have they correct cone angle.
The different look may very well be the difference in hex size (17 vs. 19 mm).
