Where can one get a after market trunk lid shock?? Mine seems to of lost it's erection.

The shock is a standard piece, on the old one you should be able to find a indication of the weight in Newton, I suppose it's about 100N.
With the old one giving you the length and wide of the mounting holes you can order a new piece at a local parts dealer.

Most common manufacturer in Europe is Stabilus:

Mine mysteriously started working again........hmmmm...probably has something to do with temperature...

It has, it's a oil filled strut, the warmer, the better oil flows.
