Default Thrust bearing AGAIN

My clutch thrust bearing has broken, after only about 1500 km from new.

This is the 2nd one to break in exactly the same way. Lambo Madrid ( where it is now ) say that it may have been fitted with the wrong pressure plate and the plate was too stiff for the bearing.

Is this possible ?. I bought the whole kit out of the US on e bay and it was a genuine Lambo kit.

Meanwhile many more Euros to pay.

Hi Terry, I know at least 2 5000 2 valve owners that have enjoyed many trouble free miles with their CT - so it seems that this piece is not a chronic problem - there must be something that is causing it - if you changed the pieces and the same problem occured it may be something else - you say that in Spain there are very few CT cars and ther is a lack of qualified mechanics that know the CT - truck it to Italy where there is experince with these older motors - even to Top Motors - do it once but do it right - JMHO - Alex

I politely dissagree, I know of four 1984 Countachs that have suffered this same fate. My 1984 all original 2-valve Countach had a mere 4,700 Kms or 2,900 miles when it broke. I truly believe there was a bad batch of bearing assemblies produced at some point.
Terry said that he purchased his Pressure plate/Throughout bearing assembly second hand, it may be possible that this was one from that batch if it does exist. I had a collar machined from a high quality steel just in case my new assembly failed, I DO NOT WANT TO PAY ANOTHER $3,700.00 FOR A BEARING . I know first hand Sincerely Vic

The one in the picture above that has been machined looks to be way stronger than the OEM. This reminds me when my damper on my viper broke..looked at the metal and it appeared to be cast like the broken throw out bearing. Very brittle. I would go with the machined one..I think that will hold a lot more.
