Default Tech Questions '85 Coutach 2V - brakes, idle

Folks,

I recently purchased an '85 Countach 5000s (2V, FI) and have a couple of mechanical questions. First, the warm engine idle is a little fast at about 1450 RPM. Is there a good reason for this? I will likely need to lower the RPM for a smog test here in Texas. Can anyone out there give me some instructions on how to set the idle? Or, if you know that it could pass Texas DOT dyno test with an idle of 1450 (in other words, do you know the maximum allowable idle for the dyno test for an ‘85 Countach), let me know?

The next question; the brake warning light is on - this is the one that indicates a brake pressure imbalance (it is not illuminated due to the low brake fluid indicators). The car brakes fine. I believe I either need to reset the brake differential warning indicator (centralize the shuttle valve piston) or I have a faulty warning switch. I just bleed the brakes and have done the routine alternating of the bleeding to the other circuits (to try to reset the warning light). Any suggestions on how to test the switch? My next step will be to remove the switch/brake pressure differential valve - of course I am assuming this is a combo valve/warning switch. Does anyone have experience and/or suggestions?

Thanks,

Dean

Best thing you can do with the brakes and such is to LEAVE things alone.
The valve resets itself, you must be of the very old school, where the valve had to be reset by hand, not so on the Countach.
Did you remove the wires from the resevoir and connect them to see if the lite went out, if not try that.

Chad,

Thanks and yes I tried that; If I disconnect the lead that plugs into the "differential valve", the light goes out. If I disconnect the leads that go the the reservoir(s), the light stays on.

Thanks.

Any suggestions on the idle?
