I KNEW that there was a good reason the cosmos would not allow me to find the original out there somewhere. This looks like a fantastic alternative! Not crazy about the tread design, but very happy to hear about the difference in weight. I remember reading an article in European Tuner about 6 years ago where the only thing they did to improve performance on a VW Scirocco was to fit new wheels and tires that were lighter. Reducing unspung weight by about 60 (or 70?) pounds on that little car made 1/10th difference in 1/4 mile straight (average). Not to mention more nimble handling - just as Rhyno described.

And from the Blue Goose Racers website:
"Unsprung weight is any weight that is not supported by the suspension -- typically the swing arm, wheels & wheel components, chain & sprocket and brake calipers. There are many benefits to reducing unsprung weight. One of the most noted is that, 1 kg of reduction in unsprung weight is approximately equal to 6kg reduction in sprung weight.'

'One easy way to reduce unsprung weight is the use of lighter weight wheels. By reducing the weight of the wheels, you also reduce the gyroscopic effect. The gyroscopic effect is the force that is generated from a spinning object. To get an idea of what this is, hold a bicycle tire in your hands and spin it. Now try and change the direction of the wheel. You will notice it is hard to do especially if the wheel is heavy. By reducing weight in the wheels you will reduce this effect resulting in better handling during cornering and improved acceleration. "

Default LM-002 Tires

My first post to this site, can anyone update me on availability of the second generation Pirelli Scorpion tires, 345x60-17.

I have been restoring my 1988 since 1996! I also need a Radiator which is still available from the factory, but cost over $5k.

Thx,
Sean

Thanks for your reply, I had heard from another LM-002 owner that Pirelli might make a production run if they could get an order for 20 sets. I would go for that. Just FYI ... my original tires are not too bad and 10 years ago I bought a set of the original Pirellis from Tire Rack which are safely stored in my garage, I just like the way the car drives with the second generation tires.

same here i have the latest to come from pereli.. but tyers only last 5 years in storage.. then the time starts to run out on the usage of the tyer..

oh and last i heard the order has to be more like 50 to 60 sets of five, for them to make newer ones... good luck with that.. less than 300 cars were made , and of them how many are runing about driven regularly and need new shoes???

hsohaei, Don't hold your breath! Pirelli has said they will make anouther batch of tires for a long time but still no tires! Just so you know, the rubber compound in tires break's down after 6 years so your 10 year old new tires will not be any good. They have dried out so tire tread life, handling, comfort will all suffer and be careful because you could have a blow out any time!

Griffan raidators could make you a custom rad.

Good Luck

Fahad, I would love to post some pics and sound clips of the Quicksilver exhaust BUT after the photoshoot in Seattle I had to leave my LM002 there! I had a custom exhaust before the Q exhaust and not all the clamps and gaskets where there to re-use. I had to order new gaskets and clamps to get the install done right ( exhaust fumes where coming into the cabin) I should get the LM back near the end of Oct and I will post some pics and sound clips then.
