Default Lamborghini Jamara General questions.

The more pictures I see of the Jamara the more I like it, the classy GT lines are really really growing on me. And I am liking the prices of these cars.

My questions are fairly basic, I have all the production numbers engine type etc etc but what I want to know is what are some problematic areas on this car? Other than having to tune 6 carbs! I would love to buy one and am starting my research. I am planning to buy in about a year... so dont bother linking me to possible cars cause they will most likely be sold by the time I am in the field. My biggest question though is is this a good first exotic/classic car, or am I bitting off more than I could chew. I have basic technical knowledge and a great willingness to learn and a few freinds who are well above average in wrenching knowledge.

How much would it be to maintain a year... aprox... I am figuring on about $5,000 a year(average obviously more some years and less others) is this a good estimate or am i way short?

OK let me put in a qualifier.
I guess you can forget the average cost of MX because of all the variables, but what I am looking for is Horror stories and things too make sure and get checked. Be it valve guides (ala 355) cats catching fire (ala countach). I guess since its such a rare car I cant seem to find much info on the car.
So anything information on what too look out for would help!
and should the ignition be swaped out for a modern MSD type system?

You can get started on your quest for a Jarama right now. The link below has one for sale on ebay. Looks really clean.

saleenfan, since you have talked to a friend of the owner of the car listed on ebay, i was curious if you could provide any insider knowledge about this specific car? Since you remarked that you are not yet in the market, I hope you don't mind me asking you to share any info you have. I too am looking to get my first exotic, and have the cash in hand right now. Like you I have found little info on the Jarama other then general specs and I am trying to gather as much info as possible. I have been watching this car on ebay closely, and trying to decide how much it is worth to me. To be honest I would prefer a nice Islero, but the only ones i have found for sale lately seem to be over seas.

Since I wasnt in the market for the car i just asked general questions.
but what i have been told is that the car runs strong, all original body panels, straight no accident car just waiting for someone to name a price and set up a PPI.
as a mater of fact here i will quote what he said
"anyway, i live here in Savannah where this Jarama is for sale. i have driven it, been in it, and under it. its a very clean, straight car as far as body and sheet metal go. it drove great, but it was the first one i had ever seen , so i cant compare it to any other Jaramas.

if you are looking for a clean solid car. this one deserves a look and a a PPI.

if i can be of any help, please let me know. i do know the seller so i may not be a good person to do a PPI, but i can recommend at least 2 local mechanics who can."

If you want PM me and I might be able to get you his EMail

Default Jarama Registry

Hi guys,
Owning Jarama GTS #10528 (my second one), I can tell you price are increasing in Europe...and by 5th november I will launch the www.jaramaregistry.com in order to put in front row that "forgotten" Lambo.
So, I hope it will be quote very quickly as the Islero does actually !

Don't miss to buy one when it still affordable...because only 327 were produced and I have recorded only 131 worldwide...

The one on Ebay was for sale at Forza in first semester this year, I don't know why the new owner is selling it so quickly, so make sure engine has good compression ratios.

I can tell you, owning a Jarama doesn't cost a fortune to use it if you select the right car at first. With +/- 3.000 miles/year => only one full maintenance service cost you about 2.000 US$ if you do it yourself as I do, or 3.500 US$ if a good Lambo mechanic does it.
