Default Espada S II # 7843

I visited the Brussels dealership today. They have a red Espada with brown interior in the showroom. The only information the sales guy could give me was the serial number and the year (1970). The car was locked (?!) so I have no idea of the mileage. It had new Belgian licence plates on it, so I guess it's being used. When I asked about the price (always been a sucker for 'the weird Lambo') the sales guy called his boss and the answer I got was: 'make an offer'. Can anybody help me ? Is an Espada as unreliable (in general) as a Countach ? Is this a car you can expect to drive , let's say 10.000 miles a year , given good maintenance that is ? If I take a (good) friend and brilliant mechanic with me, what should he specifically look at ? What is a reasonable price for this car ? Am I completely nuts even to consider buying it ? Much obliged for any comments

Hmmm.. buying 36 year old used car with unknown km , unknown service history , planning on driving it 10,000 km - better put the free towing option in your insurance policy. Alex

Sold new in Swizerland now in Belgium (after a french owner). Offered at the Paris car auction on 6/19/01 by Poulain Lefur.

Quote:
The car was originally delivered to Switzerland and was later sold to a collector with about 20 Lambos in South France.*
It was bought by a Belgium fan who restored the bodywork under control of Lamborghini Belgium. The black interior is still original, it has also air condition and has covered 70'000 Km.

Thanks man, that was the kind of down to earth, no nonsense reply I was hoping for. I'm missing something. I've come across 'mint condition' '88 Countachs, going for about 85 k euro's, with 19.000 km's on them. 19000 km's on an 18 year old car ? That's 54 miles a month. I want a Lambo I can drive (like, a hundred miles per week-end or so) not just to look at, hence my question. And of course, I wouldn't buy a car without knowing it's full history, I'm not a complete moron.

raymond,

If the ser.no. is correct, it must be the same car, but (from the outside, I wasn't able to get in) the interior definitely looked brown. or do I need new glasses ?
