Yep. Totally different cars. Now, mine were a bit older than yours. I had a normally asperated(sp?) 993 and a 993 turbo (ah yes, one of the last of the air cooled). Loved them. The turbo was silly fast, but it always felt that at any moment I would be airborn north of 100 mph. I've had a G at 150 and if felt totally planted on the road. No doubt in part because its heavier. The G does get tons more looks - which is both good and bad. Net net...I'm glad I have the Gallardo.
