There are alternatives and exceptions. My car has 22k and has only had the clutch replaced once and the current clutch is at 20%. There is a Kevlar clutch that is $2500 (vs $4200) and has been stated on this forum to last at least twice as long. I change my own oil and do most of my own maintenace.
The throw out bearing isn't required with a new clutch, but if you need one that is the stated cost. Clutch wear in any car depends on the driver. Have you researched the cost on the F-430 which would include most of these expenses as well as the timing belt replacement.
